Countdown is on to Brockville Season Opener

     Brockville, Ontario, Canada

BROCKVILLE-Nothing like a week of great spring weather in Eastern Ontario to turn the thoughts of race fans to visions of Dirt Modifieds racing around the premier quarter mile dirt track in the region. Brockville Ontario Speedway has begun the countdown to the opening night of the 2007 racing season coming up on Saturday May 19th.

It promises to be another interesting year at the fast bull ring that offers as much entertainment per square inch as any sports or entertainment venue in the East. The Beast of East program will again be anchored by the popular 358 DIRT Modified division as Danny O Brien of Kingston goes after another track title. He'll be challenged by Chris Jones of Demorestville who has bolstered his program in the off season with some new sponsorship. Teenager Bobby Herrington has decided to make the jump to the premier division in 07 making things even more interesting for the younger crowd this time around.

The Sportsman will continue to run at Brockville on a weekly basis with some more young and new faces expected to put the crate engines to the test. Former street stock fireball Adam Turner is among those to take the plunge into the faster open wheeled machines. The Street Stocks and the ever expanding Rookie or 4 cylinder class will be weekly features along with frequent visits by the Vintage class that made its debut in 2006.

Opening night on May 19 is presented by Mulder's Machine and Welding and features a meet and greet with the drivers from 4 until 5pm, followed by the complete race program beginning at 7pm featuring the Mods, Sportsman, Street Stock and Rookies. For those who can't bear the wait any longer, there will be a special practice session on May 12th from 1 to 4pm to allow crews and drivers some track time to test their new machinery in preparation for the season opener. Admission is free for spectators on the 12th.
