BREWERTON, NY – Nationwide Insurance will present professional DIRTcar racing this Friday May 18 at Brewerton Speedway. Featured will be the DIRTcar Modifieds, IMCA Modified Dean Hubbs Memorial, UMP Street Stocks, ESDCA Mod Lites, and 4-Cylinder Super Stocks. In addition, the Keller Insurance Agency is sponsoring an IMCA Modified Dash for Cash. Race time at the D-Shaped DIRT Demon is set for 7:30pm.
Jimmy Phelps and Tom Sears Jr. are the only two winners to date in the headline DIRTcar Modified division in as many events. Defending track champion Alan Johnson has been locked out of victory lane, but hopes to find the combination with his new team this Friday in the huge 35-lap event. Other drivers looking to win for the first time in 2007 are Chuck Bower, Willy Decker, Kevin Bates, Kenny Stafford, Jim Witko, Scott Prentice, Steve Hulsizer, and many more.
The IMCA Modifieds are set to battle this Friday night in the 10th Annual Dean Hubbs Memorial 25-lap event. Dean Hubbs was a veteran racer who was stricken while competing at the speedway on May 24, 1997. Each season, the speedway management honors Hubbs and his family with this popular race. Rob Keller Jr. is a two time Dean Hubbs Memorial winner, and figures to play a huge role this Friday night. The IMCA Modified division will also be highlighted with the annual Keller Insurance Agency IMCA Modified Dash for Cash, put on annually by Rob Keller Jr. Pete Anderson, Kevan Cook, Greg Kimball, J.J. Courcy, Bill Anderson, Dale Caswell, and Les Hubbard all will be in battle for the victory.
The exciting UMP Street Stock division will make their first of five appearances at the Brewerton Speedway this Friday. A who’s who of Central New York Street Stock drivers are expected to enter the door handle to door handle 20-lap competition.
The ESDCA Mod Lites will try to put an end to the hold Dan Williams has on the competition. Williams has won both 20-lap features held so far this season and will try for his third straight feature win. Drivers looking to become the second different winner in three weeks are Doug Williams, Tim Devendorf, Lowell Zehr, Rocco Leone, and Dave Trytek.
Chuck Powelczyk and young Claude Hutchings Jr. are the only two winners as of May 11 in the 4-Cylinder Super Stock division. They will look to win their second events of the season, but could very well be stopped by Chad Dupra, Aron Backus, Matt Wetterer, and Chris Kranz, all of whom are looking for their first career win.
Admission prices this Friday May 18 at Brewerton Speedway on Nationwide Insurance Night are $12 for Adults, $5 for Ages 10-14, and children 9 and under are free of charge with a paid adult. Pit admission is $20 for DIRT/IMCA Members and $25 for Non-Members.
