LYNCH, MILLER, KING, LEWIS WIN 1ST, DELLINGER REPEATS AT SHARON
Hartford, Ohio (May 13, 2007) -
Seven time Track Champ Jarod Larson and former track champion Kevin Schaeffer brought the Warren Harley Davidson field to Green. Schaeffer led the first lap before Larson drove his ride to the high side passing Schaeffer for the top spot by Lap 2. For the next 18 green flag circuits Larson was in command while 11th starter Ed Lynch and 12th place starter Bob Felmlee worked their way thru the pack. By lap 12 Felmlee closed within 2 car lengths of Larson but as Larson was about to put Scott Bonnell a lap down entering turn one both cars came together. Larson flipped his car and Felmlee's wing was damaged from the crash. Thankfully Larson was not injured. Lynch inherited the lead and posted his first win at the Sharon oval this season. Schaeffer, Jack Sodeman Jr. Mike Kekich and Tim Hunter rounded out the
Top 5. Sodeman Jr. and Larson won heats.
The Limited Sprints found the 3/8 oval fast and smooth as NIck Miller and Jason Scoville made up the front row. Miller showed why he has improved as a driver leading all fifteen laps. It was Miller's career 1st sprint
win. Second place finisher Nate Stein was a distant second, Guy Griffin placed third, Eric William fourth, and Kyle Layton fifth. Nate Stein won the heat.
Twenty five laps was the length of the Gibson Governor Mod feature. Matt Baker and Jim Rasey paced the field as the green waved. Rasey immediately powered his way out front into turns 1&2. Fourth place starter
Rex King found the bottom groove to his liking, passing Rasey on the inside of Turn 3. King was pressured by Swartzlander by the 22nd lap. Rex King took his son Russell's challenge about "wanting to win bad" by winning his first feature at the Sharon speedplant. Russell King finished second, Swartzlander, Rasey, and Del Rougeux completed the Top 5. Jim Rasey and Jim Weller won heats.
Twenty Coy Bros. Trucking Emods lined the speedway for their 15 lap A-Main. Led by Scott Stiffler and Dustin Fraley, it took 2 tries to complete a lap. Stiffler muscled to the front to lead the first 5 circuits. With a restart Al Dellinger took command by the sixth lap winning his second feature in a row. Dellinger cannot start next week's feature better than 12th which should make for GREAT racing. Jeff Sharp raced from 12th and made a turn 4 pass of Scott Stiffler for the checkered to finish 2 nd, leaving Stiffler third, Bill Thomas
and Howard Fraley were 4th & 5th respectively. Heats went to Stiffler and Dellinger.
Dan Lewis and Denny Lenny drew the front row start for the Tom's Sewer and Drain Service Stocks. Lewis went on for the victory for the first time this season leading all 15 laps. Four cautions bunched the field as
D'Apolito, Stan Woomer, Wil Aley, Sonny Wisler all pressured for the top spot. When the laps ended Lewis added to his point lead. Following Lewis were D'Apolito, Woomer, Wisler and Wil Aley, Wisler, Woomer and Dwayne Clay won heats. Bruce Redman won the Consi.
Eight ladies entered the track at intermission for the first annual Powder Puff 12 lap Charity Benefit Race. Through the hard work of Cyndi Stiffler, organizer of this event, over $5000 was collected thru donations, lap sponsors, a Chinese Auction and given to Tori Marie Roberts of Mecca, who suffers from a condition called Craniosynostosis. Being presented with a plaque was winner Heidi Thomas, wife of Emod driver Bill Thomas. Michelle Woomer placed 2nd, with Cyndi Stiffler, Stacy Skully and Becky Willougby rounding
out the top five. A big thanks to all ladies competing in this event and the racers who gave their cars away for 12 laps.
