Cayuga County Fair Speedway Plays Host To Kids Sunday Funday Night

Cayuga County Fair Speedway turns into a fast-pace playground for youngsters of all ages May 20 on Kids Sunday Funday Night when KID’S FUN LAPS highlight the evening show



The Sunday night program features a complete card of Big-Block Modifieds, Sportsman Modifieds, Street Stocks and BattleKarz (formerly Enduros) plus a special appearance by the Mod Lites. Qualifying heat races are scheduled to start at 7 o’clock with spectator gates swinging open at 5 p.m. and pit gates unlocking at 4 p.m. for all competitors.



After a pair of runner-up finishes to kick off the season in Weedsport, Jimmy Phelps improved just one position to score his first DIRTcar Big-Block Modified victory of the season at Cayuga County and move atop the points chart. Phelps continues to to be chased by veterans Steve Paine, Justin Haers and Butch Tittle, with the talented young duo of Chad Homan and Billy Dunn also call the Cayuga County Fairgrounds home on Sunday, each are hungry for their first career feature win at The Port.



Three winners in three DIRTcar Sportsman main events have kept the companion open-wheel division among the most competitive at the high-banked 3/8-mler. Jeremy Pitcher heads the standings with one win to his credit as more than a third of the field remains equipped with crate motors. A $100 bonus award is up for grabs every week for any driver using a crate power plant able to pull into the winner’s circle.



Cayuga County’s full-fender competition has been just as fierce with no repeat winners

six main events. Dave Marcuccilli, Dave Mannise and Phils Marsden have earned first-place trophies in the DIRTcar Street Stock ranks while Jon Shumway, Bill Werner and Karl Werner have taken checkered flags following early season BattleKarz triumphs.



The month of May at Cayuga County closes out with ‘Kids Sunday Funday Nite’ on May 20 and the 16th annual Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series Hall of Fame Classic for Big-Block Modifieds presented by Labatt on May 27. The twice rained-out ‘Make-Up For May 188 BattleKarz Championship leads off all the action on Friday, May 18 beginning at 7 pm.



Throughout the season special 5-PAK ticket packages will be available for all regular events at Cayuga County and sister track Canandaigua Speedway. Providing a great deal for fans, each 5-PAK of tickets can be purchased for $48.00 which results in the receipt of (1) free ticket. The regular show admission is just $12 for adults (15-64 yrs.), $10 for Seniors (65 yrs. & older) and $5 for youths (10-14 yrs.) while children 9 yrs. & under are free.
