Prelude Invite Adds Modified & Stock Car Incentive.

ROSSBURG, OH (May 14) -- Traditionally, the points chase for the UMP (United Midwestern Promoters) Modified and Advance Auto Parts Stock Car divisions at Eldora Speedway take center stage as the season winds down and the championship is on the line. That has changed this year, with the pre-season announcement that the top 22 in points in those divisions, as of June 3, would receive an invitation to compete in a special main event as during the coveted Nextel Prelude to the Dream on June 6. Now the race is be within that magic 22 number.

Following Saturday’s hotly contested battle, multi-time track champion Scott Orr heads up the UMP Modified chase, with a slip 4 point margin over fellow Hoosier native Todd Sherman, while the Advance Auto Parts Stock Cars have a much tighter battle brewing. Bob Burch heads up that division with a scant one point margin over Jeff Babcock and Earnie Woodard, who are tied for runner-up honors.

Each division has seen 43 drivers competing for points as of Saturday. Their ongoing chase for points towards not only the Prelude invitation, but towards the season-long awards continues this Saturday (May 19), with a make-up of the May 5 rained out event. Sharing the tripleheader will be the winged Sprint Cars of the All Star Circuit of Champions.

Eldora’s Nextel Prelude to the Dream will feature 25 superstars from the ranks of NASCAR and NHRA as they compete in borrowed Late Models. The event will be televised live to the Nation via HBO Pay per View and will offer the Modified and Stock Car divisions the opportunity to compete before a near sell-out audience on the massive one-half mile clay oval.
