CRATE LATE MODEL RACE AT ELDORA DETAILED
ROSSBURG, OH (May 15) -- Recognizing the impact that crate engine racing has made upon the Late Model world, Eldora Speedway officials this week released information regarding their August 4 GM Performance Parts Late Model event. The main event that night will offer $2,000 to the winner and a minimum of $200 to start the 25-lap finale around Eldora’s famed one-half mile clay oval.
Hoping for the event to grow over the years, Eldora’s General Manager Larry Kemp explains “this year we have opted to go without a sanctioning body for this race, but rather combine the rules and specs of the more successful groups in an effort to attract the maximum number of participants. We feel there is a need for crate late model racing and want to be able to offer the Eldora experience to as many teams as possible”.
As such, the car specs for the event will mirror those of the Fastrak, StormPay and UMP/C.A.R.S. series. Minimum weight and tire rules have also been put into effect, with the use of an operational RACEceiver one-way radio system also mandatory.
Continues Kemp, “GM Performance Parts has jumped on board with us at Eldora to make this event possible and we can’t be more pleased. The affordability of crate engine racing, as designed by GM Performance Parts, has kept a lot of teams in the business, without sacrificing the feel of true Late Model racing. Bear in mind, we are not out to replace the super Late Models as we now know them, but rather, open up Eldora to as many people and teams as possible.”
Joining the Crate Late Models on August 4 will be the UMP (United Midwestern Promoters) Modifieds and Advance Auto Parts Stock Cars in a tripleheader program.
Complete entry information and entry blanks will be posted on the track’s website - www.eldoraspeedway.com.
