A jam packed night at Edelweiss Speedway

Race fans that wanted to see alot of races were served with 7 features on Les Fondation BRL night. It all started with the presentation of the 3 features of last week.

A green to checker feature race won by Danny Matte. Matte lead the 9 car field of 4 cylinders, he was followed by Martin Lagacé.

In the Semi-Pro division, Lagacé took the lead of the 16 car field but contact with Richard Brady forced him to go to the pit area with problems with his front wheel on the first yellow flag caused by Brady. Bruno Boivin got the first place. On the restart, Greg Ogilvie was able to take the lead with a move in turn 1 and 2 and he kept the lead for a few laps until Marc Lalonde takes the first place from him but someone else had other plans has Nico Leblanc, who started at the back of the field, was now second was able to pass Lalonde in front of the flagstand to give a nice photo finish finale.

Stéphane Lebrun took the first place on the initial green but, Dave Bissonnette passed Lebrun and at the same time grab is first win of the season. Denis Gauvreau finished second, Lebrun third, Joey Ladouceur and Ghyslain Valade completed the top 5. This ended last week’s features.

In the modifieds, a good battle in the first few laps of the 30 laps feature between Dan Jalbert and Éric Gauvreau and it`s finally Jalbert that takes the lead to pave the way to his first feature win of the season. Second place went to Pierre Dagenais who started last, the son & father duo of Lee and Laurent Ladouceur finish third and fourth and last week`s winner Dave Heaslip completed the top 5. Gauvreau and Dagenais won the heat races.

Another green to checker feature occurred as Ghyslain Valade lead all 20 lap of the Pro-Stock race to collect his first win in that division. Valade finished with very good lead over Dave Bissonnette. Marc Therrien completed the top 3. Bissonnette won the heat.

In the Semi-Pro class, Greg Ogilvie took the lead on the first green flag but until the first caution of the race. On the restart, Ogilvie keeps the lead but Guy Régimbald takes it from him but has to stop in the front stretch with mechanical problems which give the lead back to Ogilvie. On the following restart the #10 car driven by Sébastien Bigras grabs the first place for the next 9 laps of the race but when the white flag drops, he loses control of his car in front of the grandstand and hits the wall. Ogilvie retakes the lead and wins the race followed by the winner of the first race Nico Leblanc and the top 3 is completed by Serge Lagacé. Both Ogilvie and Lagacé won the heat races.

The 4 cylinder final had many caution and it was finally the 19m of Martin Bernard that managed to win the race. Danny Matte won the heat race.

Even though there was a jam packed schedule, they manage to get every race in before the 11 o’clock curfew. The track conditions really improved since last week which helped.

The first 400 fans that will get in next week will get a free t-shirt. A regular program presented by les Imprimeries Brisson is on hand for next week along with the first race of the serie for the Semi-Pro Class.

Be there !
