BREWERTON, NY This Friday May 26 at Brewerton Speedway will be Military Appreciation Night in honor of all the armed forces and Memorial Day Weekend. All Military personnel with ID will be admitted free of charge. Scheduled to compete in a 5-star race program at the D-Shaped DIRT Demon will be the DIRTcar Modifieds, ESDCA Mod Lites, the UMP Street/Pure Stocks in a North vs. South Shootout, 4-Cylinder Super Stocks, and 4-Cylinder Enduros. Race time at the historic track is set for 7:30pm.
Competition has been intense in the headline DIRTcar Modified divisions this season. To date, three different feature winners, Jimmy Phelps, Tom Sears, and Kevin Bates have all won in as many events. Ironically, perennial favorite Alan Johnson has been locked out of victory lane. When will Alan finally bag a win at his Friday night home? Also fighting for the huge 35-lap win will be Chuck Bower, Steve Hulsizer, Kenny Stafford, Chad Phelps, Dan Vauter, Jim Witko, Willy Decker, and Scott Prentice.
Dan Williams has won all three ESDCA Mod Lite features this season as of this writing. Williams will be closely challenged by brother Doug Williams, Tim Devendorf, Lowell Zehr, and Rocco Leone for the victory. The UMP Street/Pure Stock drivers will battle it out in a North vs. South Shootout, with Dave Mannise looking to hold off all competitors for the win. Ron Hawker, Steve Woodworth, and Gary Barton are all expected to contend.
Chuck Powelczyk and two time winner Claude Hutchings seem to be dominating the 4-Cylinder Super Stock ranks, but a slew of drivers such as Matt Wetterer, Chad Dupra, Aron Backus, and Lorraine Powelczyk are all looking for their first ever win. Eric Dawley, Jeff Notaro, Josh Herbert, Jerry Herbert, and Jerry Curcie Jr. are the top five in the 4-Cyldiner Enduro ranks.
Admission prices this Friday night May 26 on Military Appreciation Night are $12 for Adults, $5 for Ages 10-14, and children 9 and under are free of charge with a paid adult. Military personnel will be admitted free of charge with ID. Pit admission is $20 for DIRT/IMCA Members and $25 for Non-Members.
