New Egypt, NJ (May 19, 2007) – Tom Carberry of Hopewell, NJ has been
very fast all season but had not been able to close the deal. All of
that changed on Saturday night as Carberry dominated a star-studded
field in the 30 lap DIRTcar Modified feature event and picked up the
$3000 first place check at New Egypt Speedway.
"We finally finished one," stated Carberry, "Last year we broke the
driveshaft with 2 to go and then a couple of weeks ago the tires went
away at the end. This 2004 Bicknell car was fast all night long, I
never had to change anything on it."
Carberry jumped out in front at the start of the 30 lap event with
John Keller and Tim Tanner Jr. in hot pursuit. Carberry showed he was
very fast early as he opened up a straightaway lead by lap 4 when the
first yellow flag waved when Kenny Meisner stopped on the
backstretch. When racing resumed Carberry again sped out in front
opening up another big lead over Ron John Koczon & Sam Martz. By
halfway Sam Martz was in second and running as hard as he could to
stay with Carberry as big guns Frank Cozze and Ryan Godown began to
make their presence felt in the top five. Over the final 5 laps,
Martz closed in on Carberry but was unable to muster a serious
challenge falling short by 2 car lengths. Ryan Godown finished a
close third, followed by Jimmy Horton and Frank Cozze fourth and
fifth respectively.
Mick Search of Allentown, NJ gained the title of Mr. Super Stock 2007
as he won the 30 lap title race, his first victory of the season.
Search grabbed the lead from point leader and reigning Mr. Super
Stock George Quinlan with 8 laps to go and went on to the biggest win
of his career, collecting $1250 for his efforts. Quinlan held on for
second followed by Billy Bauer, Pete Fogarty and Bob Vaccaro.
Chad Barney of Lakewood, NJ won his first career Sportman feature in
crowd pleasing fashion. Barney used a late race restart with just 2
laps to go, changing his line up to the cushion and powering from
third spot to the win. Justin Hoffman raced home second, chased by
Ben Donaruma in third. Rookie Feature winner Danny Bouc came from
last to finish fourth and John Salvatore Jr. completed the top five.
In the seventh race of the Advantage Financial/Cradle Rock Developers
Rookie Sportsman series, Danny Bouc of Plumsteadville, PA won for the
sixth time in seven tries. This ties him for first place all-time on
the Rookie feature win list. Joe Systo came home second over Eddie
Prentice Jr., Bobby Butler and Wayne Bechtel.
