JUNE IS JUMPING AT ELDORA

ROSSBURG, OH (May 21) -- With over $325,000 in prize money on the line and racing action for no less than five divisions of racing among four different sanctioning bodies throughout the month, June will be busy at Eldora Speedway.

Kicking off the action will be the touring stars of the winged World of Outlaw (WoO) Sprint Series on Saturday, June 2, as they make their second appearance of the 2007 season. Eldora’s UMP (United Midwestern Promoters) Modified and Advance Auto Parts Stock divisions will complete the tripleheader program.

Mother Nature stepped in to spoil an April double-dip for the WoO hopefuls. Jason Meyers was able to record his second-ever Eldora triumph on Friday, April 13, before snow squalls moved into cancel the Saturday portion.

Prior to the evening’s festivities on June 2, the Midwest Auto Racing Charities (MARC) will be hosting a collectibles/memorabilia auction in the Eldora Ballroom beginning at 1:00 PM. Proceeds from the auction go towards their injured drivers fund. Chad Kemenah, Daryn Pittman and Paul McMahan will kick off that function with an autograph session from 12:30 - 1:00.

Some four days later, Wednesday, June 6, Eldora will swell to capacity with its 3rd annual Nextel Prelude to the Dream, with 25 NASCAR and NHRA drivers slated to jumped behind the wheel of borrowed Late Models in a charity function for Kyle Petty’s Victory Junction Camp. The busy night of racing action will be televised live to the Nation via HBO pay-per-view.

Right after the dropping of the checkered flag for the Nextel Prelude, the staff will begin turning the facility around for its 13th annual Dirt Late Model Dream, which fills the Friday and Saturday time slot (June 8 & 9). As if that isn’t enough, the second annual Ms. Eldora Speedway contest will be staged in the Eldora Ballroom on Thursday evening, June 7.

A whopping $100,000 paycheck is on the line for the Dream winner, with defending champion Scott Bloomquist expected to be on hand. Friday’s timetable will see time trial runs, while Saturday is reserved for the elimination heats, last chance consolation races and the 100-lap Dream.

One week later will see the NRA (National Racing Alliance) Sprint Invaders joining the UMP Modifieds and Advance Auto Parts Stocks for their annual Double Play weekend, sponsored by University of Northwestern Ohio. A special point fund has been developed between Eldora and Limaland Motorsports Park for two consecutive nights of racing.

Wrapping up the month will be the $10,000 to win finale for the 25th annual Ohio Sprint Speedweek. Sponsored by Best Western NW (Dayton, OH), the Speedweek finale will also see the distribution of point monies earned by the teams after seven consecutive nights of racing throughout the Buckeye state. The UMP Modifieds and Advance Auto Parts Stocks will complete that busy tripleheader program.
