Competition Level High at Lebanon Valley

West Lebanon, NY | Official Website

Posted by Tom Ames  |  05/21/07

May 19, 2007 West Lebanon, New York – The Waste Management Presents
Little
League Night scheduled for May 19th had to be cancelled due to rain.
All
classes were scheduled to run along with a 4, 6 & 8 cylinder demo
derby.
The demo derby has been rescheduled to be part of The Eve of
Destruction
Presented by Waste Management & Heavy Hauler on Tuesday night June
19th.

The level of competition at “The Valley of Speed” in 2007 has been
high with
very few repeat winners. The big block Modified division has seen four
different winners in four events held. Opening night laurels went to
Brett
Hearn with the following two races being a family affair seeing Kyle
Sheldon
become the youngest driver to win a Modified Feature at Lebanon Valley
on
week two. Kyle’s Dad “Hollywood” Guy Sheldon was not to be
undone and
bested the field week three to make back to back Sheldon Family
Victories.
Last week saw Jeff Trombley visit the prestigious Lebanon Valley
Victory
Lane to claim his first regular points Big Block Modified Feature.
Jeff had
visited victory lane a few years ago at a “Wing Fest” event.

The very tough Sportsman division has also seen different victors in
three
events held. K. C. Goewey got a quick start out of the box capturing
the
opening night win while Kyle Hoffman and Chris Kokosa took their turns
enjoying the “Thrill of Victory”.

The Pro Stock division racing has been awesome to say the least with a
large
field of cars the competition is fierce and making your way to the
checkered
flag is not an easy task. The four different Pro Stock winners include
Jon
Routhier, Jim Langenback, Jay Corbin and Robbie Speed.

The Limited Pro Stock Division finds our first repeat winner. Kevin
Hilt
backed up his opening night win with a second visit to winners circle
on
week two. Justin Heron and Chad Jeseo topped the class in weeks three
and
four.

The Pure Stock Division is the Valley’s largest division with an
average of
fifty cars weekly. The cars are broken up into three or four separate
races
with the top twelve in points racing in one of the races. Only one
driver
has posted multiple wins in 2007 so far. In four weeks Pete Weigand
has won
three regular races and the Boomer’s Performance 20 Lap Pure Stock
Clash
which he won on week three the only night he didn’t win his regular
race,
four weeks four victories. Other winners from week one were Matt Humes
and
John Chapman, week two winners were Robert Hammell and Ed Hatch, week
three
winners were Ray Hall Sr., Lou Ganczar and Shannon McDermott all
hailing
from Massachusetts and week four winners Tom Harkins and Jay Casey.
