ASCS National Tour Stars to Visit SSP This Thursday, May 24; Memorial Day Racing on Saturday and Sunday
NEWBERRYTOWN, PA (May 22, 2007) – This Thursday night, May 24 for the ASCoT National Sprint Car race at SSP featuring the best 360 Sprint Car drivers in the country taking on the best from the ASCS Mid-Atlantic region. National stars expected to compete include Gary Wright, Jason Johnson, Wayne Johnson, Travis Rilat and Kenny Adams. The home turf will be defended by Chad Layton, Dave Ely, Pat Cannon and more.
Joining the ASCS Sprint Cars will be the Xtreme Stock Cars, Penn Mar Vintage Club and Mini Vans presented by Susquehanna Recyclers.
The pit gates will open 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Grandstand gates will open at 5:00 p.m. Warmups begin at 6:30 p.m. with qualifying races at 7:00 p.m. The national anthem will be at 8:00 p.m. followed by last chance consolation races and feature events.
General Admission Grandstand ticket prices for Thursday night will be Adults and Teens (13 & older) $18.00; Children (12 & under) are free. Pit pass prices are $25.00 with a reduced price of $22.00 for all pit competitor license holders. The minimum age requirement to purchase a pit pass is 14 years of age with a copy of a birth certificate is required for all ages 14 to 17.
The next Saturday night event will be May 26, with the first ever Saturday night Great American School Bus race along with the Trail Motors Super Sportsman, Late Models and Street Stocks. Super Sportsman driver, Steve Wilbur and Late Model driver, Jake Jones will be giving school bus rides around the track before the races from 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
General Admission Grandstand ticket prices for Saturday night will be Adults and Teens (13 & older) $12.00; Children (12 & under) are free. Pit pass prices are $20.00 with a reduced price of $18.00 for all pit competitor license holders. Then on Sunday night, May 27, a scheduling change now finds the Central PA 358 Sprint Cars replacing the 410 Sprint Cars on Sunday, May 27. The 20-lap feature event will be presented by Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic from Finksburg, Maryland paying $1,200 to the winner. Hoosier Tires will be the only tire permitted on all four corners of the car. Mufflers are not required for the 358 Sprint Cars only. The Memorial Day Spectacular will also feature the ARDC wingless Midgets, Legends Cars and Women on Wheels Stock Cars.

SSP Pit Notes
- Xtreme Stock Car Points Fund Announced – SSP in pleased to announce a season-ending points fund for the Xtreme Stock Car division paying $300.00 to the champion. The top 10 positions will receive points fund monies. The point fund is sponsored jointly by Superior Homes (Lancaster, PA), Erb’s Custom Performance (Wellsville, PA) and The Madison Recovery Homes (York, PA). These companies will also sponsor the 50-lap Xtreme Stock Car feature during the Miller’s Racing Parts Fall Classic race on October 19 and 20 paying $1,000.00 to the winner.
- SSP Track Championship Point Standings – The current point standings for all SSP points earning divisions are available at www.sspracing.net under “Points and Results.”
- Repeat Fan Discount in 2007 - There will be a $2.00 discount for each person with a ticket stub from races during the previous week’s events completed only (previous Saturday and Sunday). Returning fans are encouraged to write their name, address and phone number on the back of the stub to be entered into special drawings during the season for great prizes. Last season, 10 winners were drawn from the repeat fans and each winner received $30 in SSP Gift Certificates for tickets or concessions. The Repeat Fan Discount is not valid for pit pass purchases.
- “The Outback” Track at SSP – The Outback Track at SSP is currently under construction for Quarter Midgets, karts and more. The days of operation will be Saturdays and/or Sundays beginning in June 2 & 3, 2007 with open practice sessions. Competitive racing is set to begin just after the mid-summer vacation break on July 21 and/or July 22. The days of operation and classes/types of cars or karts will be developed during the open practice sessions. Details will continue to be released as they become finalized.
