DAVE DARLAND, JERRY COONS, LEVI JONES LEAD USAC EASTERN WINGLESS SPRINT
SWING TO GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY WEDNESDAY, JUNE 6
The USAC National Sprint Tour will make their first ever appearance at
Bruce Rogers Grandview Speedway on Wednesday night, June 6 to open the
first of three nights of wingless sprint car racing in the East. The
USAC wingless sprints will be the second race of the wild and popular
NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series. The three race
wingless sprint tour will open at Grandview Speedway on Wednesday
night, June 6 followed by stops at the Big Diamond Raceway on Thursday
night, June 7 and the Hagerstown Speedway on Saturday night, June 9.
Joining the USAC wingless sprints at Grandview will be the ARDC Wingless
Midgets, offering a spectacular wingless doubleheader for the fans.
Drivers that have pre-entered for the Eastern Swing include USAC point
leader Darren Hagen along with Levi Jones of Olney, IL, Ricky Stenhouse
Jr of Olive Branch, MS, Robert Ballou of Rocklin, CA, Brady Short of
Bedford, IN, Jerry Coons Jr. of Tuscon, AZ, Dave Darland of Lincoln,
IN, Kevin Swindell, Jesse Hockett, John Stanbrough, Johnny Heidenreich,
Chris Windom, Jimmy Light, Damion Gardner, Brady Bacon and Dustin
Morgan.
The local favorite in the field will be Billy Pauch of Frenchtown, NJ
who won the last wingless show at Grandview Speedway. In that event,
Billy Pauch passed J.J. Yaley with just one lap to go for the victory.
Pauch is the all time sprint car feature winner in Thunder on the Hill
history with eleven career Thunder victories.
USAC wingless sprint car racing is one of the most exciting forms of
sprint car racing in the country. By removing the top win, the cars
trade off some speed and in exchange, it brings the level of competition
much closer. Three and often four car wide racing is seen in this very
exciting form of sprint car racing.
