Ransomville, NY – May 25th, 2007 –Ransomville, NY…Friday, May 25,
2007…Scott Kerwin of Newfane, NY took top honors aboard the fifty lap
Lucas Oil Shoot-out last Friday night. It was two for two for Kerwin as
he took the top spot a year ago in the same event. To say Kerwin had
something to race for would be an understatement as he looked better
than he has all season long. Earlier in the week, the Kerwin racing
family lost one of its owners-Mark Cerrone-to cancer. The win was
dedicated to Mark and all he did for the local racing community.
Kerwin took the lead away from defending Lucas Oil Shootout
champion Scott Wood prior to half way and maintained the top spot
through the fifty lap mark. Driving the Niagara Maintenance Contracting
Corporation/Mark Cerrone sponsored-Briggs/Cocco owned machine, Kerwin
took the win over Wood, Pete Bicknell, Robbie Krull, and Todd Burley
rounded out the top five.
Greg Martin of Ransomville, NY won his very first Original Pizza
Logs Sportsman feature main last Friday night. Martin took the lead
away from Jeff Cosgrove on a restart about mid-way and held off
persistent challenges from Jipp Ortiz. Ortiz came home second followed
by Don Spatorico, Mark Potter, and John Smith. The event was caution
filled as a very fast racing surface was the result of early evening
showers. Ortiz was dis-qualified pitside for a carburetor infraction.
Boots Martin of Ransomville, NY took top honors aboard the first
Johnston’s Restaurant Streetstock fifteen lap feature main. Martin
piloted his Original Pizza Logs/CBR Fabrication sponsored machine by
Kenny Washburn in the early going and maintained the point position
through the final laps. Washburn held on for second followed by Chris
Burek, Patrick Dell, and Dave Conant.
Nate Vetter of Alden, NY won the second Johnston’s Restaurant
Streetstock fifteen lap main event. Vetter took the lead away from
youngster Brandon Sherwood and was never seriously challenged after
that point. Cory Sawyer came home second followed by Kirk Tuttle, Webb
