The first DIRTcar Sportsman event of the season at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park on May 28 will be an important outting as DIRTcar Weekly Racing points will be on the line for all regions. A full show of DIRTcar Sportsman Modified action joins the national touring World of Outlaws Sprints in a special holiday card with gates opening at 4:45 pm and racing slated to start at 7 o’clock.
Rolling Wheels continues to follow a specials-only format and with DIRTcar Weekly Racing points on the line, those collected Monday at the ‘Fast Track’ can be used by Sportsman teams toward any region.
DIRTcar-sanctioned tracks hosting the Sportsman class have been divided into three regions for the 2007 season. In each of the three Regional Championships, points will be awarded for the best finishes (15 in West, 12 in North, 15 in Central) in DIRTcar-sanctioned Sportsman events. Mr. DIRT Championship Series events will not count except at Rolling Wheels Raceway, where all events count for any region.
Regional points will end on Monday, September 3 and only drivers holding a valid 2007 DIRTcar license are eligible to compete and collect point fund money. Additional Sportsman events scheduled at RWR before the cut-off date are July 22 and Sept. 3.
