Jason Johnson Wires the Field to Claim the ASCoT National Tour Victory Thursday Night at SSP

Newberrytown, PA (May 24, 2007) – Louisiana’s Jason Johnson is no stranger to Susquehanna Speedway Park and Thursday night he found his way back to victory lane. Johnson led wire-to-wire in the first ever appearance by the ASCoT National Tour at SSP but had to fend off several late challenges from Oklahoma ’s Wayne Johnson and New York ’s Chuck Hebing. Donnie Broderick was victorious in the 50-lap Xtreme Stock Car feature. Bob Campbell claimed the victory for the Penn Mar Vintage cars in the Modified division with Fred Krickbaum taking the checkered flag for the Penn Mar Sportsman cars. Brandon Ort was victorious in the Speedway Auto Sales Mini Van feature while Kevin Armstrong wired the XSC Rookie Rumble feature.



Jason Johnson was perfect on the night claiming victory in his heat race, the dash, and the 25-lap ASCoT National Tour victory. Three caution flags halted the action allowing Wayne Johnson and Chuck Hebing to restart on Johnson’s tail, but Jason was not to be denied the victory. Wayne Johnson settled for second with Hebing third, Trevor Lewis fourth, and Pat Cannon rounding out the top five.



Donnie Broderick took the lead on lap 23 from Sam Rial and went on to cruise to the win in the 50-lap XSC victory. Ray Broderick was second followed by Mike Goodwin, Rial, and Tom Johns.



Bob Campbell passed Paul Bacchus with three laps left to claim the win in the Penn Mar Vintage Club race. Larry Felty was third with Tom Martin and Terry High completing the top five for the modified division. Fred Krickbaum was the first sportsman car across the line.



Kevin Armstrong wired the field for the victory in the XSC Rookie Rumble feature. Alex Updegraff rode home second followed by Matt Adams, Matt Sowers, and Beth Burkman.



Brandon Ort took the lead with four laps left in the Speedway Auto Sales Mini-Van feature to take the win. Butch Richcreek, Jr. was second in the 10-lap event. Tana Reisinger was third followed by Daryl Sipe and Jason Anderson completing the top five.



This Saturday night, May 26, it will be the first ever Saturday night Great American School Bus race along with the Trail Motors Super Sportsman, Late Models and Street Stocks. Super Sportsman driver, Steve Wilbur and Late Model driver, Jake Jones will be giving school bus rides around the track before the races from 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.



General Admission Grandstand ticket prices for Saturday night will be Adults and Teens (13 & older) $12.00; Children (12 & under) are free. Pit pass prices are $20.00 with a reduced price of $18.00 for all pit competitor license holders. The minimum age requirement to purchase a pit pass is 14 years of age with a copy of a birth certificate is required for all ages 14 to 17.



The pit gates will open 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Grandstand gates will open at 5:00 p.m. Warmups begin at 6:30 p.m. with qualifying races at 8:00 p.m. The national anthem will be at 8:00 p.m. followed by last chance consolation races and feature events.



Then on Sunday night, May 27, a scheduling change now finds the Central PA 358 Sprint Cars replacing the 410 Sprint Cars on Sunday, May 27. The 20-lap feature event will be presented by Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic from Finksburg , Maryland paying $1,200 to the winner. Hoosier Tires will be the only tire permitted on all four corners of the car. The Memorial Day Spectacular will also feature the ARDC wingless Midgets, Legends Cars and Women on Wheels Stock Cars.
