Ladouceur father and son duo wins at Edelweiss Speedway
On Imprimerie Brisson night, fans saw four new faces in the winners circle at Edelweiss Speedway.
Philippe Landry takes the lead in on the initial green in the 30 laps features for the modified feature race. Landry is able to keep the lead for the first 6 laps when Eric Gauvreau who started third is able to pass Landry for the lead on the seventh lap and he keeps this position for the following 13 laps followed by Landry. On lap 20, Gauvreau opens the door for Landry in turns 3 & 4 and Landry takes the by an inside move on Gauvreau and retakes the lead. Laurent Ladouceur is able to take the second place over Gauvreau on lap 24 after starting seven in the field of eleven and now have eyes on Landry. On lap 26, Ladouceur takes the lead over Landry after he did good move on the inside of turn 4 and is able to win is first feature of the year. Landry grabs is best result in his career with a second place finish, Gauvreau finishes third, Heaslip and Ladouceur complete the top 5. Gauvreau and Pierre Dagenais won the heat races.
In the Pro-Stock class, the two #72 are first and second at the start of the 20 laps feature race. Denis Gauvreau grabs the lead and after a few moves Joey Ladouceur is now second. On lap 6, Ladouceur takes the lead over Gauvreau and will only be challenged by Stéphane Lebrun at a few occasions. Lebrun finishes second, followed by Gauvreau in third, Nicolas Vaillant and Dave Bissonnette finishes respectively fourth and fifth. Gauvreau won the only qualification race.
The best field of cars of 2007 was present as 18 took the initial green in the 15 laps Semi-Pro feature. Boivin takes the lead followed by Trudeau in second place but Trudeau passes Boivin for the lead on lap 4. Michel Hamelin completes the top 3 after starting is seventh place. Trudeau is able to keep the lead with a few yellow flags and some great attemps from Boivin which gave the fans a great finish when Trudeau and Boivin exchange the lead in the last 2 laps when finally Trudeau won is first one of the year in front of Boivin, Hamelin is third followed by Guy Regimbald in fourth and Marc Lalond in fifth. Boivin and Lalonde won the heat races.
In the twelve laps finale for the 4 cylinders, Marco Raymond grabs the first place on the start but Martin Lagacé passes him on lap #2 followed by Danny Matte. The first yellow of the race on lap 6 is caused by Lagacé and also Danny Matte heads to the pits. Yannick Raymond takes the lead but Martin Raymond is able to get in front of Raymond on lap 10 followed by Alexandre. On the last lap of the race, Bernard slows in turn 4 and Pilon fly pass him to win is first feature race in his career. Lagacé won the heat race.
This night of race went real fast, the last checkered flag was given at 10:10pm. Track conditions keeps getting better as a lot of work has been done during the last week.
