Rain spoils Memorial Day weekend races at Independence Motor Speedway

INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (May 26) - For the first time this season, rain has forced the cancellation of the weekly racing program at Independence Motor Speedway. Persistent rain showers throughout the morning left standing water on the track, as well as in the infield and pit area, forcing officials to cancel the May 26 event. More rain is in the forecast for the afternoon and evening hours.

Racing is scheduled to resume next Saturday night, June 2, in all five racing divisions. That program will be sponsored by eCreative group. Gates open at 4 p.m. with hot laps scheduled for 6 and racing to begin at 6:30.
