The HMS Host Trenton Travel Plaza and General Mills Race to Read night at Brighton Speedway proved to be the third successful Brighton Automotive Pro Stock Feature Win for Brandon Gregory (#01) of Trenton. Following this third win in as many weeks, Gregory’s car was taken to the garage for post race inspection by track staff and his Chevy passed the test. When asked about his win Brandon stated, “There is still work to be done. She is fast, no doubt, but is not running as well as I would like her to. If we are going to maintain this momentum we need to stay on top of her mechanics and run right every race. I am enjoying this start to the season and look forward to the rest of 2007.”
Also celebrating in the stands and during intermission was the grade 3 class of Lisa McCauley from St. Mary's school in Trenton. This group of students were the most successful readers in the General Mills Race to Read Program coordinated by Brighton Speedway. Fifteen classes from eight local schools, more than 300 students, were challenged by drivers Caley Weese of Carrying Place and Pat Monsigneur, of Brighton, to read at home with their families and record their time over a two week period. They reported that time spent to their teachers and the class with the highest average time spent “Racing to Read” were treated to a night at the races and a pre-race Pizza Party with Weese and Monsigneur.
Weese( #77 Bill’s John’s Comp 4 and Brighton Automotive Pro Stock) and Monsigneur were not only celebrating with their friends from the schools, but they also had their own reasons to celebrate. Monsigneur took his first feature win of the year in his #07 Bainer’s Radiator Canadian Modified and Weese has been chosen as the Campbellford Chrysler Driver of the Month for May for having the highest accumulated points in the month. Another first time feature winner, and Carrying Place neighbour to Caley, was Andy Fletcher #42 in the Quinte Towing Stinger Class.
The next race event is the Campbellford Chrysler Car Load Night. A $25.00 Admission Per Car Load will be collected at the gate and Bumper Stickers will be given away. Also on the schedule is the always popular Spectator 1 on 1 Racing. Green flag flies at 7:00pm on Saturday June 2nd. For more information, visit www.brightonspeedway.com.
