Making The New Humberstone Speedway his home track has proved to be a winning choice for the first round winner of The Lucas Oil Shoot Out Don Spatorico. The 5s of Spatorico beat out a total of 40 cars to capture the checked flag on John Puhl Memorial Night. Spatorico who took the lead from, current sportsman champion, Dave Dykstra, with no time to spare on lap 49 in a nail biting finish. Dykstra who looked led three quarters of the sportsman 50 lap event, had to settle in the end for a rewarding second place finish. Chad Chevalier and Mark D’Ilario also having a good run and finished a respectful 3rd and 4th finish. Top 5 were Don Spatorico, Dave Dykstra, Chad Chevalier, Mark D’Ilario, and Travis Braun. Brad Sheehan captured the checker flag in the Brians Tire Repair Streetstock Division. Sheehan who passed the 7k of Kevin Kocarik on lap 16, slowly worked his way thru the field until he found some bite in the outside of the track and shot past the 7k. The 117 of Rick Beales also finding some speed and that allowed him to pass the 7K sending him to 3rd. Top 5 were Brad Sheehan, Rick Beales, Kevin Kocarik, Shayne Pierce, and Cody McPherson. (Heat winners were Kevin Knapp and Kevin Kocarik)
Abel Castelein captured his first win of the 2007 season at The New Humberstone Speedway in the Kendall Oil Ministock Division. Abel who captured the lead on lap 12 and managed to hold on to the top spot even though the father son team of James and Dave Small were right behind him and would have been more than happy to take that win away. Lap 12 had a scary moment when Matt Castlelein flipped between turns 1-2. Matt got himself out of car and was cleared by Ontario Motorsports Rescue. Top 5 were Abel Castelein, James Small, Dave Small, Charlie Lynch, and Len Wiley. (Heat winners were Rob Goulding and Charlie Lynch)
Proving he has one his homework over the winter it was the K51 of Ed McNamara who was able to get the top spot for the second time this season. McNamara was able to slowly weave his way through the crowd and was able to take the top spot from the 64 of Don Lessard on lap 14. Top 5 were Ed McNamara, Don Lessard, Kevin Aube, Marcel Mayer, Jim Tufford (Heat winner was Doug Banner)
The weekend warriors had their second time out this season. Just three cars taking the green flag. But General Manager/Race Director Bob Davidson boasted in the officials booth that he has no doubt this class will take off in time. The winner Jen Morisen, who was a former StreetStock driver was able to capture the checker flag, followed by Christine Porter and Lenie Sliter. The 68 of Morisen told the crowd that he was able to build his car for just over $1000.00. (Heat winner was Jen Morisen)
