VMS to Host Five Divisions of Racing and Bill Hudgins Pontiac – GMC Night this Saturday
Jamaica, VA – Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway will return to action this Saturday night for Bill Hudgins Pontiac – GMC Night at the Races featuring five divisions of action packed racing excitement. See the Victory Lap Late Model, Truckin thunder Sportsman, New Generation Racing Sprint Cars, Charger and All American divisions in action as they continue their chase towards the championship.
Competitor gates for Saturday June 2nd will open at 3pm with spectator gates opening at 4pm. On track activities will begin at 6:30pm with hot laps. Divisions scheduled to race on Saturday June 2nd: Victory Lap Late Models (35 Laps); Truckin Thunder Sportsman (30 Laps); New Generation Racing Sprint Cars (25 Laps); VMS Chargers (25 Laps); and the VMS All Americans (15 Laps). Late Model, Sportsman, Sprint Car, Charger and All American divisions will run Hot Lap Time Trials and Features only.
Admission for Saturday night will be adults $10, senior and military $8, Students 13 –17 yrs old $7, Children 7 – 12 yrs old $4 and Children 6 and under free. The Speedway offers a Family Pack for two adults and two children 12 and under for only $20. Also check our website for discount coupons.

Put June 8 – 9th on your calendar as a must visit to Virginia Motor Speedway as the speedway will host Monster Slam featuring Dennis Anderson and Grave Digger in his 25th Anniversary Tour. It is the first time in about 20 years that Anderson has done an outdoor show in the state of Virginia. Also see stone Crusher, Monster Mutt, Superman, Mopar Magic, Bad News, Anger Management and American Guardian.Tickets are $17 and are currently on sale by calling the Speedway’s office between 9am and 3:30pm at (804) 758-1867.

The race towards the coveted division championships heats up this weekend as five of the tracks six divisions are in action.
In the Victory Lap Late Models Walker Arthur (416) of Forest, VA holds a 42 point lead over 15 year old Austin Hubbard (374) of Seaford, DE. Tom Cohick (367) of Gloucester, VA, Brett Royal (366) of Owings, MD and Stevie Long (358) of Mechanicsville, MD round out the top five.
In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman Davis Lipscombe (396) of Mechanicsville, VA holds a six point advantage over Roger Jamerson (390) of Richmond, VA heading into this weekends action. Lipscombe took over the points lead when Jamerson encountered problems in last Friday’s race. Rookie Robert Kramer (384) of Waldorf, MD, Rookie Michael Roop (376) of Stafford, VA and Jack Foulkes (362) of Fairfax, VA round out the top five.
In the Budweiser Modified division Bret Hamilton (382) of Powhatan, VA holds a slim 2 point advantage over Mark Schools (380) of Midlothian, VA. Rookie Brian Maxey (350) of King George, VA, Brent Bordeaux (346) of Fredericksburg, VA and Page Harrison (339) of jetersville, VA round out the top five. The Modified drivers will have to wait a couple of weeks to resume the chase for the championship.
In the new Generation Racing Sprint Car division Craig Folmar (310) of Philipsburg, PA holds a 15 point lead over Mary Anne Williams (295) of Chester, VA. Rookie Daren Bolac (284) of Moyock, NC, Rookie Matt Stambaugh (284) of Fredericksburg, VA and Scott Davis (280) of Virginia Beach, VA round out the top five.
In the Chargers Bob Terry (311) of Stafford, VA sits atop the point standings with a 12 point advantage on Rookie Kyle Nelson (299) of Mechanicsville, MD. James Givens (296) of New Kent, VA, John Kirby (282) of Sandston, VA and Chris Tatum (262) of Hanover, VA round out the top five.
And in the All American division Kevin Fletcher (496) of Saluda, VA holds a five point advantage over defending champions Marty Coltrain (491) of Richmond, VA. 15 year old Stephen Childress (480) of St. Stephens Church, VA, Johhny Brooks Jr. (444) of Mechanicsville, VA and Dustin Owens (443) of North, VA round out the top five.
Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway, a ½ mile dirt oval track is located on U.S. Route 17, eight miles north of Saluda, VA and 25 miles south of Tappahannock, VA in Jamaica, VA. The speedway is just a short drive from Richmond, Fredericksburg, Southern Maryland and the Hampton Roads area.
