Four new faces and one who is no stranger to victory lane at Genesee Speedway.

Batavia, NY—June 2, 2007--By: Chris Rhynold, Media/Racer Relations Director

Four new faces entered victory lane along with a face that is no stranger to victory lane at Genesee Speedway. The two consecutive win streaks came to an end as Jim Johnson in the 360 Late Models and Pete Stefanski of the Pro Stocks did not make the trip to victory lane. However, Stefanski still has an undefeated streak at Genesee Speedway this season as he was absent from competition. Canadian and Humberstone Speedway regular Dave Dykstra brought his DIRTcar Sportsman to get himself some track time at Genesee Speedway before the Lucas Oil Sportsman Series makes its trip to Genesee Speedway two weeks from now.

The Dickinson’s Auto Service Mini Stocks were the first to hit the speedway for feature action. Jason Hull would pace the field to the green. Dan Norton would jump to the early lead over Jason Hull and would begin to check out on the field while Jason Hull was giving chase. Ken Hixenbaugh would flex his muscle on lap five as he passed Jason Hull for second and set his sights on the leading Dan Norton. Norton and Hixenbaugh would check out to a full straight lead over third place before the yellow would fall for debris on the speedway. Under the caution third place runner Jason Hull would stop at the bottom of turn one and would require help from the wrecker to leave the speedway and give up his third place position. Reports from Dan Turner informed the crowd that Bobby Dickinson had a real soft left rear and disaster would strike him on the restart as something let go on the left front of the car resulting in the end of his night and on his way to the pits on the end of the hook. The final two laps were no problem for Dan Norton as he held off Ken Hixenbaugh for the win.
Heat winners - Heat 1 – Russ Wassner, Heat 2 – Ken Hixenbaugh

Ken Begnouche would pace the Bobcat of Buffalo Street Stocks to the green for the feature. Rookie campaigner Jeb Walworth would jump to the early lead over Begnouche. Jeff Maxwell was on a mission as he took the third spot from Joey Spicola and Ken Begnouche for second one lap later. Weller was able to work his way to Spicola and was looking for a way to get by and would be awarded the position on lap six. Weller who was really working his ride and was reeling in the leaders, would catch Jeff Maxwell and complete the pass on lap 15 for the second position. By that time Walworth had already closed the deal and scored his first career full body stock car feature win.
Heat Winners – Heat 1 Jeb Walworth, Heat 2 – Ken Benouche

Rob Pratt’s Genesee Speedway luck streak continued as he was awarded the pole position with the redraw in the Troyer Race Cars Sportsman Division. The top three spots of the feature line-up had all been feature winners at Genesee Speedway so far in the 2007 season. Pratt would jump to the early lead with Don Spatorico moving to second. The yellow would fly on lap six when Bill Hallet, John Baker, John Venuto and Stubby Pangrazio all came together when Pangrazio lost the handle on his sportsman. Rob Richmond and Canadian racer and newcomer to Genesee Speedway Dave Dykstra were trading paint, while John Panattoni was on the move and in the fourth position. Panattoni would not hold the position for long as Greg Mrzywka made the move to the fourth spot. Don Ogden would move up to the sixth spot having one of his best runs of this 2007 season and began to work on Panattoni. Steve Schumacher made his move on lap twenty in a spectacular pass on Don Spatorico. Schumacher’s car was bouncing all over the place which sent Spatorico into a 360 spin. Spatorico would recover from the spin only losing two spots. Yellow would hit the speedway on lap twenty three when Don Ogden spun in turn four bunching up the field for a three lap dash for the checkers. Schumacher would be docked two spots under the yellow for the rough driving when he passed Spatorico. This would move Greg Mrzywka into second behind Rob Pratt. Ricky Newton would spin on the restart in turn one collecting Justin Wright, John Baker and Stubby Pangrazio. Spatorico would steal the second place spot from Mrzywka on the final lap but Mrzywka was having none of it and would steal it back but had nothing for the gone Rob Pratt who collected his third Genesee Speedway feature win of the season.
Heat Winners – Heat 1 – Don Spatorico, Heat 2 – Steve Schumacher

The Greenlief’s Restaurant Pro-Stocks finally had a new face in victory lane this week as the class points leader Pete Stefanski had his win streak broken as he was absent from competition. Don Barnes jumped to the early lead with John Gagner, Steve Lewis and Eric Greenlief all staying extremely close together until Barnes started to pull away from the field on lap five of the pro-stock main event. Gagner and Lewis would bang body panels coming off of turn two on lap six sending a piece of Gagner’s rear bumper cover hurling into the air and coming to rest near the center of the infield. Lewis would complete the pass on lap ten and set his sights on the lead car of Barnes. With Barnes and Lewis checking out on the field, Gagner and Greenlief would have an intense battle for the third spot. Gagner was making his car as wide as a barn and gave Greenlief no solid line to make a pass. Barnes and Lewis would drive off for the first and second spot leaving Gagner and Greenlief fighting for third place right to the line. On the last lap exiting turn four, Gagner left the door open and Greenlief dove under Gagner for the pass and Gagner tried to run Greenlief out of room but Greenlief would come home in the third spot. In the post race inspection, Steve Lewis and Brett Martin failed inspection and moved to the bottom of the final results.
Heat Winner – Steve Lewis

Their definitely was no repeat in the BDK Construction 360 Late Models this week at Genesee Speedway by any means. Jim Johnson had his win streak put to an end and the Late Models were not as exciting as they were the prior week. Pete Waldron and Bob Babbitt would lead the field to the green for the 20 lap event. Waldron would take the early lead and Jon Rivers moved into the third spot with some massive three wheeling coming off the turns. Babbitt would take the lead away from Waldron on the back chute on the restart after one of many yellow flags but Waldron would regain the lead half a lap later. Rivers took the lead from Waldron on lap five and JJ Mazur would complete the pass on Waldron for second on lap eight. Rich and Ron Mogavero had quite the battle for a couple of laps as they fought over the fifth spot. Josh Pangrazio and Tim Kaufmann had a brief battle for position when Pangrazio and Kaufmann traded paint resulting in Kaufmann spinning and collecting Carl Shetler sending both of them sliding into the infield. After Johnson had a pretty rough night, he was making his march back to the front and making his charge late which seems to be a trade mark of his as of late. Johnson passed Bill Holmes for sixth on lap seventeen and set his sights on Rich Mogavero for fifth. On lap nineteen, Johnson would get to the inside and trade paint with Mogavero and take the fifth spot. Rich Mogavero lost his steering after his altercation with Johnson and crossed the track and was hit relatively hard by his brother Ron Mogavero. Jon Rivers would go on to win the event and put an end to Johnson’s win streak.
Heat Winners – Heat 1 – Jon Rivers, Heat 2 – Justin Chaddock, Heat 3 – Bob Babbitt
