KIRKWOOD, NY…Modified bounty hunters prepare because this Saturday night a $1,000 bounty has been placed on Stewart Friesen. Friesen won again this past Saturday night which put the bounty into place for this weeks 30 lapper. If anyone is able to beat Friesen to the win this Saturday night they will earn $2,000 in the Modified main. Should Friesen win the next two Saturday nights he will collect the $1,000 bonus himself.

In order for someone to claim the bounty Friesen must finish the race on the lead lap. He must also be beaten cleanly on the race track which means it cannot be determined by rough riding. A mechanical problem will not be a determining outcome in the bounty as Friesen would have to finish on the lead lap.

Don’s Automotive Mall sponsored the last bounty that was placed at the speedway. Last year Defending Pure Stock Track Champion Charlie Gilbert had an early season bounty placed on him. The speedway and Don’s Automotive Mall put together matching funds in that bonus. What made it a neat situation was the fact that Gilbert is employed by the company. Gilbert is fresh off of two consecutive wins and if he records the victory this Saturday, June 9th he too will be put up to a challenge by the speedway. Even though Gilbert has tallied the last two wins Doug Stack has probably led the most laps in the division this season. Mechanical woes have kept Stack out of several possible wins. Stack would certainly be looking forward to a bounty on Gilbert.

Ironically Mike Colsten who is employed and sponsored by Don’s Automotive Mall could be one of the drivers geared up to be a bounty hunter this Saturday night. Colsten made his return to the quarter mile this past Saturday night and promptly wound up with a solid third place finish. Former Track Champion Jim Crawn brought out a new car just two weeks ago and had a great drive to finish second this past Saturday. Any numberof Modified drivers at the Point are capable of pulling off the bounty this Saturday night.

In addition to the bonus money up for grabs this Saturday there will be many upcoming special events at the famed quarter mile. Next Wednesday, June 13th will see the STAR series 50 event at the speedway. The 50 lapper will pay $2,000 to the winner. Sail panels will be allowed for this min series event held with Penn Can Speedway.

Saturday, June 30th will be the 43rd running of the Heath Memorial. The prestigious event will serve as a STAR Series race that pays a minimum of $2,000 to the winner. A number of bonuses will be up for grabs as well on a night that pays tribute to the speedway founders Anna and Irving Heath.

This Saturday Five Mile Point Speedway the bounty will be on Friesen. A full program of Modifieds, Sportsman, IMCA Modifieds, Pure Stocks, Lightning Cats and A League of Their Own will be joined by the popular BRC Late Models. Kiddie Rides will also take place prior to the racing action. For more information please contact the speedway offices at (607) 775-5555 or log on to www.fivemilepointspeedway.net for more.
