With mother nature dancing all around the southern Minnesota speedplant the drivers and crews showed up for another great night of racing action at Deer Creek Speedway on Lake Geo Travel Plaza and Shaw Custom Homes Night. All of the drivers in attendance tonight drove through rain on their way to the track and a light sprinkle hit as the first of the heats hit the track. Fortunately the weather cleared and the show was able to be completed.

The Dirt Doctor Trucking WISSOTA Midwest Modified feature was the first on the track with Bryce Struckman taking the early lead as Bob Bunne, Andrew Wiste and Joel Alberts raced three wide for second. Behind them there were two rows of four wide racing for position as the field tried to get sorted out. Two laps completed and Struckman was still looking strong up front while Alberts looked to the low side in hopes of moving into the top spot. Bunne and Jerry Young were now side by side for third with Albert and Kenny Wytaske right behind them. Thirteen to go and now Young was racing Albert for second on the rear bumper of Struckman. Young cleared into second leaving Alberts to contend with Kenny Wytaske and Bunne as they ran three wide for third. Eleven to go and the race up front was still heavy with most of the time Young and Struckman running side by side. With ten to go Young took the spot just before a caution flew with eight to go. On the restart Kenny Wytaske, Albert Wytaske and Struckman were now three wide for second with Jimmie Arnold looking to get through and it stayed that way for the next two laps until they made contact ending Struckman’s best run to date, also sending Arnold to the pits with damage. On the restart Young again rocketed quickly out front while Chris Adams had now charged up from his seventeenth starting spot to race Kenny for the second position. Another late restart allowed the Red1 car of Dan Wheeler to work into the fourth spot after starting twenty first on the field and Bryan Hernandez. Young dominated the final circuits on his way to his first feature win of the season at the speedway.

Dan Holland led from the drop of the green flag in the WISSOTA Street Stock feature with Nathan Finley in hot pursuit. The rest of the pack ran side by side during the early part of the feature. With three completed the lead stayed the same while Chuck Nerland and Kevin Hager continued to race side by side for fourth until the second place car of Finley spun in one and two. On the restart Nerland took control of the race after moving past Holland with Fred Prudoehl and Holland racing side by side for second. Twelve to go and Nerland was still up front with Scot Nelson and Prudoehl now side by side for second with Nelson taking the spot on the next lap allowing Tony Horsman to race with Prudoehl for position. Steve Eischens sat in fifth looking to moved forward in the field. AJ Zvorak was the car to watch for the next six circuits, first moving inside the top ten after starting sixteenth on the field. Eventually working up to racing with Prudoehl for the third spot. With two to go Horsman again fired back on the outside to move back around Zvorak and trying to get past Prudoehl. These three exited turn four to the checkers in a close pack with Prudoehl taking third behind Nelson and Nerland.

The US Army WISSOTA Super Stocks have lacked a little in car counts this year but they sure haven’t lacked in racing quality. With five different winners in five nights of racing you knew it was going to be a good one again. Chris Quast took over the lead at the completion of lap one with Chris Klinger moving past Dave Solum to take over second. Cole Queensland looked strong early as he moved around Solum into third after started seventh with only two laps completed. Queensland than took off after Klinger for second as they raced close for the next three laps until Queensland was finally able to make the low side work and take over second. With things settled down up front for a little while Brian Fetting caught your eye next as he moved into the top five with eleven to go. Chris Groth was sitting in third as Queensland and Quast went side by side for the lead. Klinger than took over the lead as Quast moved lower to try and keep Queensland behind him. On the next lap Quast again led with Klinger in second and Groth and Queensland now racing for third. Eight to go and Klinger and Groth were side by side for second and Fetting and Queensland side by side for fourth. Groth moved into second as Fetting took over fourth. Groth and Quast were side by side with three to go while Fetting kept chargin on the bottom. Groth took over the top spot while Fetting was able to get below Quast for second at the line. Groth became the sixth winner in six nights of racing in the WISSOTA Super Stock class at Deer Creek.

Doug Herrick bolted into the early lead of the Valley Featherlite WISSOTA Late Model feature event with Neil Eckhart and Lance Matthees left to decide second. A restart with two down saw Eckhart spinning in front of the field with everyone getting by without any further incidents. On that restart Herrick ran low while Keith Foss blasted around the high side into second and quickly taking over the lead of the race. Adam Hensel was racing Nick Herrick for fourth with many three wide battles behind them Five down and Matthees moved past D. Herrick for the second position allowing Hensel to work on Herrick for third. A caution with sixteen to go saw Foss continue to lead on the restart with Matthees in second. Doug and Nick Herrick were now racing for third. Nick took the spot and moved up to battle with Matthees for second as Hensel raced with Doug for fourth. Nick moved into second while Hensel moved into fourth with eight to go. A caution with seven to go set up the final dash. Hensel moved past Matthees and started working on Nick for the second position as these two ran close to the checkers with Foss taking home the win, Nick Herrick second and Hensel third.

Bob Timm drew the pole position with Mark Noble on his outside for the EZ fabricating USRA Modified feature. Timm jumped into the lead followed closely by Noble with Brad Wiats, Tyler Rubin and Steve Wetzstein racing for the third spot. Waits took over the third spot with twenty two to go as Noble slid up in front of Timm. Timm reacted quickly and cut back under Noble to retake the lead. Noble then had his hands full with Waits hounding him closely as they started to work into lapped traffic with fourteen to go. Steve Arpin was also moving forward as he sat in fourth and Mike Sorensen into fifth With ten to go the fun for Waits ended as he pulled down on the back straight. A caution flew with eight to go and Sorensen ran side by side with Noble for a lap until Noble gained control again and started working on Timm again. The last five laps saw positions three through seven all bunched up and running close with Sorensen, Wetzstein, Arpin, Tommy Myer and Jason Cummins all racing close. After numerous position changes in the pack Cummins came home in fifth behind Arpin and Wetzstein. Timm held off Noble to take home the win.
