Money raised from the various raffles and donations from the event will be donated in honor of Bev Caputo to the American Cancer Society, the Sloan Kettering Cancer Research Center , and the American Cancer Institute. During the past eight years the Bev Caputo Memorial event has raised over $4,000 for cancer research.

According to their official website the Midstate Vintage Stock Car Club (MVSCC) was formed in 1984 in the Southern Tier region of New York State by Carl Carpenter, Dick Ackerman, Dave Allen, Mel Ogden, and Ralph Rastaad, based on the cars of the mid 50's and 60's at the Midstate Speedway in Morris, thus the name of the club Midstate Vintage Stock Car Club.

The club has since expanded with members in Ontario , Illinois , New Jersey and PA and they are the guests at tracks all over New York State , Ontario and Pennsylvania .

Midstate is made up of three classes, 50's, 60's and 70's. The 50's and 60's classes run their heats and features together.

MVSCC has more than 70 race ready cars and anticipate more. Some of the cars are original cars of their era and some are replicas of cars that raced during those years.

The bodies used on the cars are steel pre 1948 American made for the 50's and 60's class, or up to 1975 in the 70's class.

The engines used in the cars are as follows: 50's class - unlimited flatheads, unlimited stove bolt sixes, and inline sixes that conform to the 50's class engine rules. The 60's class uses inline sixes while the 70's class uses inline sixes or V8's.

The frames used on the 50's and 60's cars are factory original. 70's frames are original frames or tube type.

Some of the drivers in the club actually raced during the 50's, 60's and 70's. Some are racing their original cars and some have always wanted to drive a race car but never had the opportunity to do so until the club was formed. The drivers range in age from 19 to 69 years young.
