PINKERTON, MOFFITT, THRASHER BAG USRA CASEY'S GENERAL STORES WEEKLY RACING SERIES CHECKERS AT OSKALOOSA
By Tony Paris
OSKALOOSA, Iowa (June 6, 2007) - USRA Casey's General Stores Weekly Racing Series action at the Southern Iowa Speedway was second to none Wednesday with just one caution flag in our main events. The night was sponsored by Mike's Tire & Alignment of Ottumwa and also featured the O'Reilly USMTS Modifieds.
In the USRA Stock Car feature, defending USRA Hobby Stock national champion Nathan Wood of Keswick took the early race lead but lost the spot to defending USRA Stock Car track champion Brad Pinkerton of New Sharon on the third lap. From there "Pinky" paced the field to the checkers with Bert McDaniel Jr. of Eldon taking second, Wood third and Webster's Colt Mather in fourth.
The second feature of the night was the USRA B-Mods with Brett Moffitt of Grimes taking the win over Roland's Matt Lettow, who made a late charge but came up just short and settled for second. Paul Underwood of Ottumwa was third and Andrew Schroeder of Keswick took fourth.
First time checkers waved for Danny Thrasher of Agency in the USRA Hobby Stock main event. Thrasher took the early race lead but Rick Landgrebe of Sigourney took the top spot away on lap 4. Thrasher regained the lead from Landgrebe and led the final five laps for the win. Landgrebe was second with Ottumwa's Mike Shelton in third and Jason McDaniel of Eldon in fourth.
Next week at the Mahaska County Half-Mile Monster will feature two nights of action as MUSCO Lighting presents the Great American Stock Car Challenge, Wednesday and Thursday, June 13-14. Two big nights and two complete shows with the biggest names in Stock Car racing will battle on the big, fast half-mile at Osky! On tap both days will be the USRA Casey's General Stores Weekly Racing Series featuring MUSCO Lighting USRA Modifieds, USRA Stock Cars, USRA B-Mods and USRA Hobby Stocks.
