The Federated Auto Parts Wayne County Speedway has announced that the track will reopen on Monday June 25, in time for the 12th annual Pete Jacobs Memorial. The event, back on the All Star schedule as part of the Buckeye Sprint Speedweek (where it belongs) will also feature Super Late Models this year!!!
The track has been closed since fire destroyed the concession stand/pit gate office/electrical system during the season opener. The management wanted to reopen the track with a bang, and bringing in the Speedweeks AND the super lates will certainly do that.
This is Speedweek's 25 anniversary, making it the longest running sprint car speedweek. This year the point fund was raised from $10,000 to $15,000. Also added is a $50,000 "Speedweek Challenge" going to any driver who can win four of the seven events. In all, over $200,000 are up for grabs during the week.
Last year there were an average of 46 cars attempting to qualify for each event, with Limaland drawing 60.
Federated Speedway is famous for it's racey smooth surface, and this double event is not to be missed!!! |
