Stewart's late pass foils Chico's night at Brockville

BROCKVILLE-It looked for awhile that fan favourite Keith Chico Dingwall was going to score his third career DIRT 358 Modified feature win at Brockville Ontario Speedway on Saturday night. However, just when it looked like the veteran pilot had things sown up, along came Kingston's Todd Stewart. Stewart dove down low between turns one and two to take the lead with 4 laps remaining and went to win his first feature of 2007 aboard his RW Electric Bicknell on Ken Seymour Memorial night at the fast quarter mile dirt oval.

"I thought we might be able to do something on the bottom of the race track," said a happy Stewart in victory lane. "I told the crew to set the car up to run low and it paid off." Dingwall was a strong second followed by Bryan Rogers, Kyle Dingwall and Mark Hitchcock.

The 20 lap DIRT Sportsman feature went to Bob Albright. Albright in just his second appearance of the season powered through the field and more than a few caution flags to score a convincing victory over Randy Earl. Earl, who has his car beaten up in one of those caution periods, had enough to power around track champ Chris Raabe for the runner up spot with Sheldon Hoogwef and Adam Turner rounding out the fast five.

The best field of the season was on board for the 15 lap Street Stock event with Bob Botting fending off a spirited challenge from Dana Aikens at one point to scored his first feature win. Invader Serge Legace was third followed by Billy Code in his trusty Nova and Robin Perrin. Steve Barber made it two wins in as many weeks as he grabbed the win in the 16 lap Rookie race over Marc Raymond. Jessica Power, Adam Trickey and Adam Wicks were third through fifth respectively. A special 20 lap enduro was won by former Street Stock driver Mark Grier while Clay McNamee took the 10 lap McNamee Concreate Vintage checkered flag.

Brockville Ontario Speedway returns to action next Saturday night with a full race program in all four regular divisions plus a big rig show and shine beginning at 7pm. The Track will also be open on Sunday afternoon at 1pm for the annual Kanes Towing Fathers Day Enduro featuring four, six and eight cylinder enduro cars.
