FULTON, NY This Saturday night June 16 at Fulton Speedway is Firemen and Policemen Appreciation Night. All policemen and firemen with a valid ID will be admitted free of charge in support of their tireless dedication to our safety and well being. Scheduled in stock car race competition on the 3/8-mile high banks are the DIRTcar Modifieds, DIRTcar Sportsman, Gypsum Express Crate Sportsman, IMCA Modifieds, UMP Street Stocks, and 4-Cylinder Enduros. Race time at the historic Oswego County track is set for 7pm sharp.
Action has been intense and open as ever in the headline DIRTcar Modified division with four different winners parking in victory lane. Alan Johnson finally broke through the door to win his first in the 100-lap Super DIRTcar Series event last Saturday, with Jimmy Phelps, Brian Weaver, and Dale Planck also winning the four features as of this writing. Charging for their first wins of the 2007 season this Saturday in the 35-lap $1,500 to win main event are Kevin Bates, Tom Sears, Vinnie Vitale, Roy Bresnahan, Chad Phelps, and Dan Vauter. It really could be anyone visiting the winners circle with all drivers having an equal chance to win.
The DIRTcar Sportsman division is as tight as ever with the top five in standings just 24 points apart. Sammy Reakes leads with two feature wins, followed in the standings by Chris Hile, John Pietrowicz, Shawn Donath, and Jeremy Pitcher. The fledging Gypsum Express Crate Sportsman class is becoming very popular with increasing car counts. Brad Godshalk has won two straight events but lies third in the standings under leader Timmy Sears Jr. and Sean McCarthy.
The IMCA Modifieds will be on hand for their third feature race of the year, and Kevan Cook has won both events held so far. The intense UMP Street Stock division will battle in their exciting door handle to door handle style. Ron Hawker, Dan Hofmann Sr., Jim Wallace, Gary Barton, and Steve Woodworth are the top five in Street Stock point standings. Mark Johnston and Jon Shumway seem to have the upper hand on the competitive Enduro division with three wins each to their credit.
