SCHOOL BUSSES GETTING TUNED UP
Even though there are only a few days left in the academic school year the fleet of busses that race the 1/3 mile clay oval at Brighton Speedway are just getting tuned up and ready for their first races on June 16th, presented by Lange and Fetter. Always popular these traditionally yellow and black rockets have been painted, numbered, decaled and decorated in preparation for the 2007 quest for the championship.
“We look forward to the school busses getting out there and running 3 wide in the corners with no driver ready to sacrifice their lead. It is always guaranteed to be a great night of entertainment.” Co-Announcer Tim Whitehead commented following the Dekeyser Excavating presentation of the Southern Ontario Sprints (SOS) on Saturday June 9th, 2007.
Another popular show at Brighton Speedway, the SOS put on a great show for fans. The 24 car feature race, that ran on near perfect track conditions, saw 3 red flags, extensive damage to cars and a finish that will make the history books of the SOS circuit. Taking the win, a three-peat on the season, was Rick Wilson, the “Joyceville Jet” in the 42W “Jack-a-Roo”. Other feature winners on the night included Ronnie the “Rocket” Wadforth #40, in the Brighton Automotive Pro Stocks, Andy Fletcher (#42) of Carrying Place in the Quinte Towing Ltd.. Stingers, and Phil Potts (#49) in the Mister Signz Pure Stocks. A first time ever winner was Stacey Ferguson #1of Picton in the Bill’s Johns Comp 4 Feature.
The next race event is the Lange and Fetter presentation of the School Bus Races, and a bus ride tour of the pits for Tim Horton’s Kid’s Club Members prior to the races beginning. Green flag flies at 7:00pm on Saturday June 16th. For more information, visit www.brightonspeedway.com.
