FASTRAK Northeast Late Model Touring Series ready for 3-RACE WEEKEND at RACEWAY 7, MCKEAN COUNTY, & ERIEZ; BARTON & ANDREWS look to continue winning ways
By Mike Leone

June 12, 2007 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Pulaski, PA).After a successful debut of the FASTRAK Northeast Late Model Touring Series at Raceway 7 on May 25, rain washed out the next two events at Eriez Speedway on May 27 and Freedom Raceway on June 8. FASTRAK is working with those speedways to try and reschedule those shows. With good weather predicted all weekend long, everyone is looking forward to the big three-race weekend this Friday through Sunday, June 15-17 at Raceway 7, McKean County Raceway, and Eriez Speedway.

The weekend will kick off on Friday night with a return to Ron Nielson's Raceway 7 near Conneaut, Ohio featuring a 25-lap $1,200 to-win, $125 to-start feature. Back on May 25, Dick Barton topped a 20-car field in a race that featured three different leaders, just two cautions, and two lapped cars. Barton came from seventh that night and passed Jay Watson on lap 21 to score the inaugural victory in an event that both the drivers and fans raved over. Pits open at 5 p.m. with racing at 7:30 p.m.

On Saturday night, action shifts east to McKean County Raceway in East Smethport, Pa. McKean is one of the four weekly-sanctioned FASTRAK tracks and thus far have held two shows with Todd Andrews victorious in both. The FASTRAK Touring Series will compete in the 25-lap Hazen Jordan Memorial with $1,500 going to the winner and $150 to-start. Pits open at 4 p.m. with racing at 7 p.m.

The weekend will conclude at Bobby Rohrer's Eriez Speedway on Sunday evening. Rain checks and entries that were paid back on May 27 will be good towards this event. It will be a complete new pill draw. Rohrer has stepped up the payoff to $1,500 to-win, $150 to-start to match the payoff from May 27 and will try to find an additional date to bring the FASTRAK Series back later in the year. Gates open at 3:30 with racing at 5 p.m.

"The weather has played real havoc thus far not only with the Touring Series, but the weekly events at Raceway 7, Freedom, Dog Hollow, and McKean," explained Northeast Series Co-Director Mike Leone. "Despite the weather, the first show at Raceway 7 was a success and all things considered for the first year thus far we're very happy with the progress. There are already 41 registered drivers amongst the four tracks and Series. We are working on a website that will be strictly for the Northeast region to keep fans and drivers up to date with the happenings of the Series close to home. The address will be www.fastraknortheas t.com. In the meantime, points will be updated and posted at www.mercerracewaypa rk.com/fastrak. htm. The link is available on the Mercer Raceway Park homepage."

Three very well-known drivers in Todd Andrews, Dick Barton, and Alan Dellinger lead the list of hungry racers, who are excited to resume racing. Other popular drivers expected to participate include Jay Watson, Rodney Phillips, Mark Osburn, Steve Hollabaugh, Dave Norton, Jr., Mike Wonderling, Jr., Bump Hedman, Jon Law, John Watson, Dave Padula, John Haggerty, John Lacki, E-Mod standouts Carl McKinney, Greg Oakes, and Larry Kugel, former Sprint Car driver Kyle Drum, Stock Car great Tommy Snyder, Jr., and many others from Ohio, New York, and Pennsylvania.

Drivers will draw pills to determine the heat race lineups and the top 12 drivers from the heat races will redraw for the first 12 starting spots of the feature. The Goodyear G45 or G50 tires are mandatory for all three events. They will be available at the tracks for $125 each. There is a $50 entry fee for the Raceway 7 event and $75 entry fee for the McKean and Eriez events. In order to accumulate points and be eligible for point fund monies and compete at the end year three-day National Championship, drivers must be FASTRAK members. Drivers may complete their membership form at www.fastrakracing. com or sign up at the individual tracks and Touring events.

The tentative event that was scheduled for September 21 & 22 at Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway will not take place.
