South Dakota Deery trip pays off for Toland.
JEFFERSON, S.D. (June 12) – The long tow to Park Jefferson Speedway
and the first Deery Brothers Summer Series event held in South Dakota
paid off for Rob Toland.
Toland led the last 30 laps, holding off Darrel DeFrance following a
re-start with six circuits to go, in winning the Tuesday night IMCA
Sunoco Late Model main event. The tour victory at Jefferson was
Toland’s first of the season, the 18th of his Deery career and paid
$2,000.
Terry Neal, Bob Moore and Jason Hahne completed the top five.
Outside front row starter Moore led the first five laps before
getting high and opening the door for the fourth starting Toland, who
threatened to run away before Neal and DeFrance caught up midway
through the 35-lapper.
Neal was unable to take advantage of a Toland bobble on lap 23.
DeFrance passed Neal for second before the only caution of the night
took lapped traffic out of the equation on lap 30.
Toland stayed in charge to the checkers, beating DeFrance across the
finish line by two car lengths.
Series points leader Jeremy Grady ran eighth. He’ll take a three
point edge over DeFrance into the second half of the midweek twinbill
on Wednesday at Buena Vista Raceway in Alta, Iowa, with Toland now
six points back.
Late Models join sanctioned Modifieds, Northern SportMods, Stock
Cars and Hobby Stocks on the June 13 card at BVR, where pit gates
will open at 5 p.m. Hot laps are at 6:45 p.m. with racing to follow.
Other IMCA winners at Park Jefferson were R.J. Merchant in the Karl
Chevrolet Northern SportMods and Kent Husted in the Hobby Stocks.

IMCA Modified, Deery, rookie awards highlight Edelbrock program
TORRANCE, Calif. (June 12) – Edelbrock returns as an IMCA contingency
sponsor this season, giving awards based on regional Modified and
Deery Brothers Summer Series point standings.
The top 10 drivers in each of the five SuperFlow Modified regions
will receive $100 product certificates. The top two drivers competing
in the tour for IMCA Sunoco Late Models with a Chrysler or Ford
engine both earn intakes from the Torrance, Calif., high performance
parts manufacturer.
Modified regional rookies of the year also receive intakes.
Edelbrock had previously given awards to top five drivers in each of
the Modified regions.
“We are very excited to have Edelbrock back in support of IMCA
racers, and their awarding of free intake manifolds in our Modified
and Late Model divisions proves they are glad to be back as well,”
IMCA Marketing Director Kevin Yoder said. “It is a great complement
to the product certificates drivers in each SuperFlow Modified region
will receive at season’s end.”
Information about products available from Edelbrock is available via
the www.edelbrock.com website or by calling 310 781-2222.
