$10 FAMILY NIGHT & "MEET YOUR HEROES" AUTOGRAPH NIGHT SATURDAY NIGHT AT MERCER WITH FULL SHOW PLUS MOD MAKE-UP FEATURE

By Mike Leone

June 13, 2007 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Mercer, PA).Mercer Raceway Park has a big night planned this Saturday night, June 16. On the card will be the Luxaire Heating & Cooling Sprint Cars, American Racer/Lias Tire Modifieds, Tire Express Stock Cars, Big Daddy's Speed Center Mod Lites, and the M&D Paving Mini Stocks plus the May 19 Modified make-up feature. It's $10 Family Night presented by Armstrong and the rescheduled "Meet Your Heroes" Autograph Night.

"Hopefully with some good weather we can finally get caught up Saturday and back on track," explained owner Vicki Emig. "This is the last of our make-up features from May 19 and we added the rained out autograph night from May 26 to Saturday night as well. The figure 8 races we had scheduled was cancelled due to the backlog of events and little interest that was generated. Our $10 Family Nights are always popular so we're looking forward to that."

The third of five scheduled $10 Family Nights presented by Armstrong will admit mom, dad and as many accompanying kids 15 and under for the big night.

During intermission all of the race cars from all of the divisions will be brought onto the speedway. "Meet Your Heroes" Night will permit all fans out on the track for this special meet and greet camera and autograph session. Last year's night was enjoyed by all thus the reason two were scheduled this year. The second one will take place on August 4.

Fresh off the Jeff Hoffman Memorial, the Modifieds will be back in the spotlight running double features. The May 19 make-up will start off the night as the Modifieds will resume their feature with five laps completed with Gary Smoker leading over Jimmy Holden. The point race is very tight with Steve Young leading Garrett Krummert by just three points and two-time winner Rodney Beltz by three points as only 18 points separate the top six drivers.

Scott Bonnell became the fourth different Sprint Car winner in six races this year when he edged out Rod George for the victory last Saturday night. George, a two-time winner and still has yet to finish worse than second, leads the points by 17 over wingless winner Arnie Kent.

Brian Booher and Andy Buckley continue to be the drivers to beat in the Stock Car division. Buckley's second win of the season came in last week's $500 special and pulled him within 10 points of four-time winner Brian Booher. The two are tied with 24 career wins, which is tops in the division since the track reopened in 1994.

Despite three victories, Rod Jones holds down just a slim seven-point lead over Kenny Meadows in the Mod Lites. Matt Hay has made two appearances for both specials and has won both of them.

The Mini Stocks continue to rise in car count. Last week, a high of 13 turned out with Lucas Sprouse winning his third, but leads the points by only two over Leland Haylett. Go-kart graduate and grandson of western Pennsylvania legend Pete Wearing won the May 19 make-up feature. A total of 17 cars have competed in the new front-wheel- drive four-cylinder division.

Regular admission prices are in effect Saturday with adults just $11, students 6-15 $5, children five and under free, family passes $10, and pit passes $25. Pit gates open at 3:30 p.m. with grandstands at 4:30, hot laps at 6:15, and racing at 7.
