Scott, Allison, and Anderson take Night One of Buckeye Double Play

(Lima, Ohio) Friday night at Limaland Motorsports Park marked the first leg of the inaugural Buckeye Double Play. The evening saw the usual Limaland suspects joined by invaders from Eldora Speedway who came to the famed quarter-mile to be in the running for part of the $9,000 Buckeye Double Play point fund between Limaland and Eldora on Saturday night.

Professional Computer Company Modified heats were won by Jerry Bowersock, Frankie Luchini, Terry Hull, and Shawn O'Connor. EFI-NRA Sprint Invader heats went to Phil Gressman, Mike Dussel, and Dustin Daggett. Bud Thunderstock heats went to Andy Holderman, Jeff Babcock, Barney Craig, and Tony Anderson.

Brent Hole and Todd Sherman brought the field down to the start of the 20-lap Professional Computer Company Modifieds feature. Sherman got the lead on the start and held it when Scott Orr spun in turn three after one lap. The Indiana veteran held the lead until lap nine when Grand Rapids, Ohio native Josh Scott motored past Sherman to take the lead. While Sherman engaged in a dogfight with Frankie Luchini for the second position, Scott pulled away to take the win. Following the race Scott was asked whether or not he would go to Eldora for the second half of the Double Play. "Are we going to Eldora tomorrow?" Scott said while looking to his brother. "Yeah, we'll be there," he said with little hesitation.

Next up were the EFI-NRA Sprint Invaders 25-lap feature with Mike Brecht and Kent Wolters on the front row. In turn four as the field got up to speed, Ron Blair and Mike Dussel came together but were both able to get back going. Once under green, Brecht took the early lead. On the fourth circuit Tim Allison powered to the lead on the high side. Six laps later Wolters got Allison for the lead on the low side. As the race passed the halfway mark, Allison began to pressure Wolters in heavy lapped traffic. In turns three and four on lap seventeen Allison got the lead from Wolters just before he did a quick 360 and continued. From there "Mr. Excitement" masterfully guided through traffic and held off a charging Luke Hall to take the win.

John Brooks and Billy Siferd led the Bud Thunderstocks to the green for their 15-lap feature. Before a lap could be run, Siferd spun on the backstretch and had to go to the rear of the field. When the race started, McDonalds Dash for Cash winner Nick Rosselit jumped into the early lead. This would be short lived as Tony Anderson grabbed the lead low on lap three. Rosselit would challenge on the high side for a little bit but would eventually be passed by Jeff Babcock for the second spot. A spin in turn four by Kyle Brandewie would setup a three-lap dash to the finish. On the restart, Anderson would withstand a last ditch try for the win by Babcock and Barney Craig to take the victory.

All in all it was yet another incredible night of racing at Limaland Motorsports Park. Your next chance to see racing during the 72nd season at America's Premier quarter-mile is next Friday night when the Front Row Challenge Presented by Professional Computer Company hits the track. Gates open at 5:00 p.m. with racing beginning at 7:30 p.m
