Chevalier cruises to Lucas Oil Shoot-Out win, as Johnson, Walworth and Dickinson all make victory lane appearances.

Batavia, NY—June 16, 2007--By: Chris Rhynold, Media/Racer Relations Director

The Lucas Oil Shoot-Out Series was in town for the Sportsman Series, which brought in some of the area’s top sportsman drivers. Thirty-Five sportsman’s were in the pits and ready to do battle. Mark Dixon would draw the pole position and lead the field to the green flag for the 35-lap event. Tom Flannigan would waste no time going to the point and would hold the lead until lap nineteen when Chad Chevalier used the topside to take the lead. Genesee Speedway regular Stubby Pangrazio was showing he could run with the big dogs as he drove an excellent race and hung with the top five all night. Rob Pratt experienced engine troubles in the heat race and fellow Genesee regular Don Ogden offered Pratt his race car to finish out the night as Pratt was a guaranteed starter for the event. Don Spatorico again was making a late race charge just like he did at Humberstone Speedway at the last sportsman Lucas Oil event but ran out of time as Chad Chevalier would go on to claim round 2 of the series.
Heat Winners – Heat #1 – Tom Flannigan, Heat #2 – Stubby Pangrazio, Heat #3 – Chad Chevalier, Heat #4 – Travis Braun

Jon Rivers would pace the field to the start in the 20 lap BDK Construction 360 Late Model division. The field would not complete the 1st lap when Carl Shetler and Tom Baker spun going into turn three. On the restart Rivers would blow away from the field but how long would he be able to hold off the hard charging Jim Johnson. Johnson cleared Derek Boyle for 2nd place on lap six. Rivers night would go up in smoke, as his car would come to rest in turns four billowing a white plume of smoke. Johnson was now at the point with Derek Boyle chasing him down. Brian Kotarski who had right front wheel damage was managing the hold onto the 4th spot and pulling away from JJ Mazur and catching the third place car of Josh Pangrazio. Johnson would go on to collect his 5th feature of the season followed by Derek Boyle, Josh Pangrazio and Brian Kotarski.
Heat Winners – Heat #1 – Brian Kotarski, Heat #2 – Jim Johnson, Heat #3 – Rich Hale.

Unfortunately, because of our curfew it was decided that the Greenlief’s Restaurant Pro-Stock feature would be postponed until next week for double features. In the heat race Bill Kibbe took a wild ride as his car hit the front stretch wall and flipped onto its roof. Safety crews got to Kibbe’s car quickly as fuel fire had started. Kibbe walked away from the wreck okay.
Heat Winners – Heat #1 – Don Barnes, Heat #2 – Pete Stefanski

Wise Guys Racing held a special street stock memorial race in the Bobcat of Buffalo Street Stock Division for fallen Wise Guys Michael Holford and Rich Conte. Dan Pries would take the early lead with Joey Spicola and Jeb Walworth occupying the 2nd and 3rd spots. Walworth would move to the 3rd spot on lap four and set his sights on the leader. Walworth and Pries would begin to battle side by side on lap eleven. Bill Weller would begin to challenge for the 2nd spot and completed the pass on lap sixteen but wouldn’t last as he spun exiting turn four. Walworth would go on to collect his third career feature win and his third straight at Genesee Speedway.
Heat Winners – Heat #1 – Jeb Walworth, Heat #2 – David Downs, Heat #3 – Joey Spicola

Nick Skeet led the Dickinson’s Auto Service Mini Stocks to the green but Dan Norton wasted no time moving to the front followed by Bobby Dickinson in his new car. Bill Tice who was on the move and up to 5th place spun into the infield bringing out the yellow. Dickinson would take the lead on lap ten as Randy Barkley and Jason Hull began to close in on Norton. Dickinson would go on to score his first feature of the 2007 season followed by Dan Norton and Randy Barkley.
