Family Victories at Edelweiss Speedway

Cantley, Qc – Friday, June 15 – The best crowd so far along with great track conditions was on hand on this nice night of June which had features from June 1st and a also a complete racing program.
Twenty two laps had to be completed, in the June 1st modified feature. Eric Gauvreau who started first was able to hold off Pierre Dagenais on the first laps of the race. On lap 16, Lee Ladouceur who climbed is way trough the field was able to take the second place of Dagenais, Lee`s father Laurent did the same thing a few moments later, Dagenais was now fourth. Gauvreau and Ladouceur gave the fans a great show in the last 14 laps with many battles for first place. It is finally Gauvreau that won his first feature of the year. Lee Ladouceur finishes second, followed by his father Laurent, Pierre Dagenais and Dave Heaslip completes the top 5.
It`s another member of the Gauvreau family that took the checkered flag in the 20 laps feature in the pro-stock category. He led wire to wire but had some good challenges from Joey Ladouceur. Gauvreau won his first one of the season, with Ladouceur finishing second and Dave Bissonnette completes the top 3.
Bruno Boivin did the same thing as in the modified and pro-stock features has he lead all 15 laps in the semi-pro feature. He some charges of Martin Bigras who finished second followed by Serge Lagacé, Marc Lalonde and Benoit Dubois.
This completed the features of June 1st.
In the second feature of the night in the modified, Philippe grabbed the lead but Lee Ladouceur who started sixth took the lead over Landry with a good move in turns 3 and 4 on lap 7. The first caution came on lap 16 for Denis Larocque and Eric Gauvreau. On the restart, Laurent Ladouceur was able to get in front of the field and never looked back and won his second feature of the season. Lee was second followed by Pierre Dagenais, Dave Heaslip and Ron Valade completes the top 5. Lee Ladouceur and Gauvreau won the qualification races.
Dave Bissonnette was able to lead the first 11 laps in the 20 lap pro-stock feature but a caution for Stéphane Lebrun, brought the field together. On the restart, Joey Ladouceur passes Bissonnette and got away but a great battle between for positions 2 to 5 gave the fans some exciting racing in the last few laps of the event as Ladouceur won is second feature of the year, followed by Marc Therrien, and Ghyslain Valade. Bissonnette won the heat race.
As usual, the semi-pro class gave an excellent show as 17 cars took the green flag for the 15 laps feature. Stéphane Carrière took the lead for the first laps of the race and was able to keep it even when a 3 car tangle between Boivin, Bigras and Lagacé occured in turn 4. Every car had heavy damage on it. The third yellow of the race for Galipeau brought the field together. On the restart, Marc Lalonde is able to get in front but Carrière hits him and he was rewarded with a black flag because he finished the night of Lalonde. With all those changes, Mark Trudeau and Dominic Gauvreau are now in front. Gauvreau is able to use is experience to win his first one of the season. Carrière, Bigras and Trudeau had won the heat race.
Twelve cars started in the 4 cylinders finale. Martin Bernard used is speed to grab the lead. Bernand and Martin Lagacé fougth for the first position all race long and it was finally Lagacé that won it because of car problems for Bernand. It was the first feature win of the season for Lagacé. Danny Matte and Gabriel Mercier complete the podium. Lagacé got a perfect night as he won his heat race. Matte won the second one.
Edelweiss got their best car count of the season as many new faces showed up for the show which is a good thing for the rest of the season. Benson presents a complete racing program along with a pit stop competition for the modifieds and also the second race in the serie for the semi-pro. Be there !
