URC SUCCESSFUL SEASON CONTINUES, SEVEN DIFFERENT WINNERS IN EIGHT
EVENTS, ED AIKIN LEADS POINT CHASE
Can it get any better then this? The 60th season for the URC Bar's
Leaks Sprint Series is offer to a very competitive start with seven
different feature winners in just eight racing events. To date, only
Curt Michael has been able to repeat a visit to the URC victory lane.
At the end of the eight events, Ed Aikin is the point leader by just a
four point margin over the Ocean View, DE driver, Curt Michael. The
Saturday night show at the Grandview Speedway saw Mertztown, PA driver
Josh Weller ad his name to the prestigious list of former URC feature
winners. Another point of interest, four of the seven different winners
scored their first career URC wins this season and joining Josh Weller
as first time winners is Dave Calaman, Chad Layton and Justin Collett.
Ed Aikin of Lincoln Park University, PA is still looking for his first
URC win of 2007, but Aikin does hold two career feature wins under the
URC banner. Close in the chase is Curt Michael, driver of BK
Leasing/Palladino #99. Michael is a four time champion with URC,
winning the title in 1998 and again in 2004, 2005 and 2006. Michael is
looking to become only the third driver in URC history to win four
titles in a row.
The balance of June, the URC Bar's Leaks Sprint Series will invade the
New Egypt Speedway on Saturday night, June 23 as the Fred's Trailer
Repair Sprint Series returns to New Jersey. On Wednesday night, June
27, URC will be a participant in the Kasey Kahne Foundation 360/358
Sprint Challenge at the Williams Grove Speedway. This event is not a
point race and will be an invitation event.
Ending the month of June, URC will return to the Delaware International
Speedway on Saturday night, June 30 as the Taylor & Messick Delaware
State Sprint Series continues.
