Ricky Elliott of Seaford , DE led the final sixteen laps of the Super Late Model twenty-five lap contest on Friday night to score his second Georgetown victory of the year. Elliott, forced to start tenth after a poor pill draw, worked through traffic like a knife through butter and raced to a comfortable win over Donald Lingo Jr..
Ross Robinson of Georgetown collected his sixth 20 lap Crate Late Model victory of the year in a race that saw just three caution flags. Mike White of Laurel , DE won his first Crate Modified twenty lap feature of the year while CJ Schirmer won the ten lap Georgetown Vintage Club event.
Donald Lingo Jr., piloting the Alex Beumont owned 22a in 2007, led the nineteen car Super Late Model field to the green flag. Austin Hubbard quickly jumped into the second position and began looking for ways to get around the race leader. The two would battle for the top spot while Elliott began picking his way through the field.
Ricky Elliott slipped under Hubbard for second after eight circuits and then went right to work on Lingo. Lingo bobbled in turn two on the ninth lap and that was all Elliott needed as the Rocket raced away to victory.
Hubbard was trying to save third when he had contact with David Pettyjohn as the two raced side by side. Hubbard developed a flat tire on the sixteenth lap to bring out just the second of three cautions. Hubbard went to the pits and left Elliott, Lingo, and David Pettyjohn to fight it out.
A lap eighteen caution involving Vic Thomas and Rob Schirmer slowed the field once more and gave Lingo and David Pettyjohn one last shot at the leader. When the green dropped Elliott was up to the challenge and raced away to a two second victory.
This new clay held up nicely on the track and made this track even faster, proclaimed Elliott in victory lane. Elliot went on to add that, I bet we were going at least 10 miles per hour faster this week than two weeks ago when we were here.
Lingo held on a second place showing, his best finish of the year. David Pettyjohn worked up from his eighth starting position to take third. Kenny Pettyjohn rebounded from his lap one accident that sent him to the rear to take fourth. Dale Lingo completed the top five.
Jamie Lathroum took sixth place honors while Mark Pettyjohn settled for seventh. Ray Dais Jr., Ray Kale Jr., and Schirmer rounded out the top ten.
Jon Calloway bypassed pole sitter Joe Warren on the start of the twenty lap Crate Late Model feature event. Calloway looked like he had the car to beat as he paced the eighteen car field over the first thirteen circuits. Calloway found Ryan Walls to be his stiffest competition in the early going but Ross Robinson passed both of them in turns one and two and raced away to lead the fourteenth lap.
Robinson never looked back and ran away to an emotional victory in which he dedicated to his uncle that passed away earlier in the week. Calloway held off Walls to take second while Walls settled back in third. Tyler Reed got by Mike Wharton on lap nine but could never muster a challenge to Walls for position. Staci Warrington kept busy during the twenty lap event as she moved up from her last starting spot to round out the top five.
Jeff Brown led the twenty one starters to the green flag to begin the twenty lap Crate Modified main event. Brown was up to the challenges from Andy Hammond over the first eight laps as the one time feature winner looked for ways around the leader. Hammond looked inside and out but could never get by Brown.
Mike White started ninth and made his way to third by lap eight and then took second just two circuits later. White would hound Brown over the next three laps before finally getting by on the outside to lead lap fourteen. White never looked back as he raced to his first career Crate Modified victory.
Brown held off John Curtis for second with Curtis settling for third. Joseph Watson took fourth while Casey Lynch posted his finish of the year with a fifth. Hammond slipped to sixth after racing for the lead during the early part of the race.
