West Lebanon, NY – A special Father’s Day night at the Valley of
Speed that
included the popular Kiddie Rides night presented by Key Bank and
Funplex
Funpark, saw the return of the 2006 points Champ Andy Bachetti return
to
victory lane. And a struggling Chris Kokosa outlasted the field to
capture
his 2nd of 2007.

Beautiful summer weather brought out the young and old to enjoy a full
night
of action packed racing, with the Key Bank Funplex Funpark Big Block
Modifieds 30 lap feature taking to the high banks first.

On the pole, Dave McFeeters #27 brought the field to the green along
side
the #34R of Russ Reckner. The first caution flew for the #24 of John
Hewitt
by lap 2, by this time, the Albreida Waste #4 of Bachetti had powered
from
his 6th starting spot to reach 3rd. On the next restart, Bachetti got
to
the top side of the high backs and began to hunt down the top 2. He
started
his assault, but the caution flew again for the #1A of Tim Dwyer,
making
hard contact with the turn 2 wall.

Bachetti didn’t make it completely past the leader McFeeters, so he
restarted 2nd, but that was merely a sign of the inevitable, as the
green
flew again, the #4 sprinted to the top spot by turn 2.

On lap 11, the caution flew once again, this time there was heavy
contact
involving several cars back in the field. Involved were the #21J of
Jeff
Trombley, the #473 of John Alberti, the #74 of J.R. Heffner, the #60 of
Brian Berger, and the #115 of Kenny Tremont. They were all able to
continue
except for the Berger, who had to make some repairs but returned later,
Alberti suffered severe damage and stayed pitside, and Tremont limped
around
the speedway for the rest of the night with a bent driveshaft.

But on the next restart, the Marshall Oil #98 of Eddie Marshall was
right on
the rear bumper of the #4 of Bachetti, and that was the way they would
race.
Marshall would the faster car tried to go high, and then low, then
high
again, but just couldn’t get enough momentum to complete the pass.

Finally, at the checkers, a last ditch effort came up short, with Andy
Bachetti getting his first win of 2007, and making him the 9th
different
winner of the season. Marshall crossed the line 2nd, followed by Wayne
Jelley, Steve Hough, and Guy Sheldon rounding out the top 5.

The Sportsman 20 lap feature was started with the #1 of D.T. Pickard
and the
#3 of Kim LaVoy on the front row. At the green, LaVoy didn’t take
much time
getting by the #1 of Pickard, and she set sail out front of the field.
But
further back, the man n the move was the #00 of Chris Kokosa. The
Kokosa
Fuels #00 was taking to the high side, or the Bachetti lane, to make
his
move toward the front. By lap 4, Kokosa powered his way to the runner
up
spot, and began to hunt down the #3 of LaVoy.

And by the 10th time around, he cleared LaVoy to take the lead, but was
slowed by a caution on lap 11 for the spinning #77S of Kevin Petrucci.
The
#00 powered away from the field, hampered by a couple more yellows, but
it
was not going to be enough for anyone to get to the man out front. At
the
checkers, it was Chris Kokosa taking his 2nd win of 2007. Following
Kokosa
was the hard charging Jeff Watson to finish 2nd, 3rd across the line
was
LaVoy, followed by Frank Harper, and Kyle Hoffman.

The Pro Stock 20 lapper was next up was pretty much over when it
started, as
Paul LaRochelle, started from the front row, and just set the cruise
control
for a nice Saturday night drive to take his first win of 2007.
Charging
through the field to finish a strong second was the #38M of Mike
Middleton.
A solid finish for the #15 of Dave Blanchard as he crossed the line
3rd; he
was followed by the #322 of Jay Casey, and the #35 of Rick Dempsey.

The Limited’s saw the #17 of Nick Hilt, charge from the rear of the
field to
win his 4th of 2007.

50 cars packed into the Valley of Speed for the Pure Stock division,
for
another night of full fender racing action. The races were divided
into 3
separate 8 lap features. The Key Bank, Funplex Funpark Feature Winners
were: PS# 1 – Shannon McDermott, PS# 2 – Robert Hammell, and PS# 3
– Phil
Wood.
