HARTFORD, Ohio; June 16, 2007 - Clear skies over the 3/8 mile speedplant of Sharon Speedway shined brightly, as did Brian Carothers(stocks), Jason Scoville (limited sprints), Bob Felmlee, Jim Rasey and Scott Stiffler graced victory lane.
As Kyle Moffitt and Tait Hilbert lead the Warren Harley Davidson sprint field to green, a yellow immediately followed for a spin in turn one of Hilbert and Russ Sansosti. On the restart Sidney, Australia native Troy Little powered to the front with an inside move to lead laps 1 thru 5. Fifth place starter and point leader, Bob Felmlee took control from lap six. With only the second caution displayed on lap 15, bunching the sprinters nose to tail with lapped traffic between first and second Felmlee was able to hold of Ed Lynch Jr's charge amongst the lapped cars to post his fourth win of 2007. Lynch Jr. was runner up as tenth place starter Dan Shetler was third. Little finished 4th and Kevin Schaeffer placed 5th. Heat wins went to Bob Felmlee and Dan Shetler.
Del Rouguex set the early pace in the Gibson Governor Modified twnety five lap feature. Rouguex was in front for the first 2 circuits as outside front starter Jim Rasey muscled his way to the point by lap three. Rex King made it a three-wide battle off turn four leading laps 7 thru 12. On lap twelve, mechanical problems for King sent him to the pits giving the lead back to Rasey. Hard charging Jim Weller Jr. raced from 16th position to second by lap twelve, but didn't have enough to overtake the leader. Rasey found the winners circle for the second time this season. Weller had his best finish (2nd) in quite some time. Third went to Rouguex as Brian Swartzlander and Rob Kristyak completed the top five. Brian Swartlander and Del Rouguex won their hets.
Twenty four Tom's Sewer and Drain Service Stocks set sail into turn one as the green flag flew. Lead by Brian Carothers and Wil Aley on the front row, Aley kept a one to two car advantage over Carothers until caution waved on lap 9. On the restart Carothers found some right rear traction on the outside of the front chute busting into the lead on the tenth lap. By the next lap Dan Lewis drove from twelfth to pressure Carothers through the last 4 laps. Carothers clearly had the car to beat, bagging his 1st career feature victory. Lewis settled for second position as Wil Aley, Bill Hanna and Steve D'Apolito from 7th starting position rounded out the top 5. Dan Lewis, Stan Woomer and Gary Robinson won heats. Consis went to Bruce Redmond and Brent McCarthy.
In just his 5th night out in a Limited Sprint car Jason Scoville upset the rest of the field by leading from the drop of the Green. Surviving restarts on lap one and nine, Scoville was never headed and collected his career first win. Eric Williams chased Scoville the entire 15 laps, but could only muster a second place finish. Point leader Guy Griffin was third, Nate Stein fourth and Brandon Spithaler 5th. Guy Griffin was the heat winner.
Arlon Coy and Howard Fraley brought the Coy Bros. Emod field to green. Jeff Sharp had his hopes set on winning for the second time this season and he found the top spot until lap 5 when Scott Stiffler lead one lap only to relinquish the lead back to Sharp on the sixth circuit. By lap 7 Stiffler resurfaced out front taking the win, his first at Sharon in "07" continuing his winning streak after taking the checkered at Raceway 7 the previous night. The entire race was without a caution. Once again Sharp finished second , third went to Dwayne Clay, Bob McCann came in fourth, and Howard Fraley fifthe. Heats went to Jeff Sharp and Jim White Jr.
FANtastic Five racing will continue Saturday, June 23. Tickets will be available at a price of $11 for adults (16 and older), $5 for kids (12-15) and free for children 11 and younger.
