CENTER LISLE, NY -----
A gorgeous Saturday evening made way for an action packed seven class
card
on Forkey Construction & Fabricating, Inc. Night at the Center Lisle
3/8
mile clay oval. The Don’s Automotive Mall Big Block Modifieds
treated fans
with a fantastic 30 lap slug fest, which in the end was brought home by
“The
Poet” Paul Jensen. “The Speedsville Speedster” Kevin Jordan
returned to
form by piloting his machine back to victory lane in the Autoworks of
Ithaca
Sportsman Modifieds. Daryl Krebs brought home the gold in the
Billy’s Auto
Sales & Service Hurricane Street Stocks, collecting the bounty on the
streaking Steven “Pudge” Deinhardt. Other winners on the evening
included
Mike Kiser in the Central New York Mini Sprints, Andrew Ressler in the
XCel
Chassis 600cc Modifieds, Rick Frisco in the Road Warriors, and Rich
Gardiner
in the Road Bandit division.
There’s an old saying that the only two guarantees in life are death
and
taxes. Well an amendment has been made and there’s now a third
guarantee in
place. The guarantee that the Edmeston, NY native Paul Jensen will be
coming to the front of a Big Block Modified field near you via the top
shelf. The first five laps of the Don’s Automotive Mall Big Block
Modified
30 lap feature saw veteran wheelman Wade Decker holding steady in the
top
spot in his Tepco sponsored #1W. “The Negotiator” Ricky Yetter
held steady
to the runner up spot, but ready and steady was the Wholesale Mulch #57
of
Paul Jensen, picking off car after car, one by one. Jensen would
ultimately
take over the top spot and the rest of the race, taking it away for the
remaining 25 laps. Tim Mayne would finish 2nd, while Jim Gabriel Jr.
drove
the Brian Decker owned #CD1 to a 3rd place finish, and Jason Andrews
and
Wade Decker would round out the top 5.
In the Autoworks of Ithaca Sportsman Modified ranks, Kevin Jordan shook
the
monkey off his back after his unlucky past few weeks, and took the Rich
Seeley powered ride to victory lane. Jordan started in the 3rd
position,
but made a bonsai move on the apron of the speedway to power into the
lead
by turn 1. From there on out it was checkout time. The win was
Jordan’s
third of the season at Thunder Mountain, and his 4th overall on the
year.
Chance Spoonhower made a great effort to get by Jordan late in the
race, but
just didn’t have enough gusto to get by the #22. He would settle for
runner-up, his best finish of 2007. Josh Pursell wound up 3rd, Chris
Stull
4th, and Mike Dimorier 5th.
The Billy’s Auto Sales & Service Hurricane Street Stocks have been
dominated
recently by Deposit, NY’s Steven Deinhardt. They were dominated so
much in
fact, that head flagger, Brandon Clapperton, placed a $100 bounty on
Deinhardt. At the drop of the green flag, Donnie Russell Jr. raced
out
front, and looked strong early on. The man on the move, however, was
Chemung’s Rich Talada. Talada, winner of 2 races on the season, took
over
the top spot on lap 3. Talada would hang onto the position until a
caution
on lap 9 realigned the field for a double file restart. This would
prove to
be race’s deciding factor, as Deinhardt would race from his outside
restart
position, right into the lead. Across the line it was Deinhardt, but
after
failing post race tech inspection, the win and the bounty was awarded
to
Daryl Krebs. Talada wound up finishing 2nd, John “Goose” Cooper
Jr. was
3rd, Randy Marsh 4th, and his brother, Ricky Marsh, finished a career
best
5th.
Jared Fink dominated the early stages of the 20 lap CNY Mini Sprint
feature
event, but the Kiser Motorsports #99 of Mike Kiser was up to the
challenge
of running down Fink. Once Kiser grabbed the lead, he opened it up to
over
an entire straightaway over the rest of the pack.
The XCel Chassis 600cc Modifieds made another appearance at the Fast
Track,
and this time around the winner would be rookie competitor, Andrew
Ressler.
Ressler ran a great race and held off the late charge of current points
leader, Mike Keppler.
In the Road Warrior division, the ever-dominant #2EZ of Earl Zimmer
made the
charge to the front, and eventually took over the top spot, but the #X2
of
Rick Frisco would not go away lightly. Frisco took his ride to the low
line
and impressively stole back the lead from Zimmer. Frisco proved to be
just
too strong, and Zimmer was never able to make another effort for the
win.
Chenango Forks, NY’s Rich Gardiner, 2006 track champion, dominated
the Road
Bandit feature, en route to his 3rd victory of the season. As stated,
Gardiner has visited victory lane 3 times, but he has also done so in 3
different cars.
110 cars made their way to the fast track for Saturday night’s racing
action, and the stands were packed, as $1 off of each admission was
donated
to the Spalding Foundation for Injured Drivers. You can check out this
great charity and their many events online at
www.spaldingfoundation.org.
Next week’s racing action will include our regular card of Modifieds,
Sportsman, Hurricane Street Stocks, Warriors, and Bandits, as well as
another leg of the Trackside Products Pro/Super Stock Series, and a

Mechanic Race. All 2007 High School Graduates will also get in free.
Gates
