Posted by Late Model Editor  |  06/20/07

After a successful trip on it's "Southern Swing" the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series gets right back to business this Friday and Saturday with two $10,000 to win events. On Friday Night, June 22 the series makes its first appearance at Fayetteville Motor Speedway in Fayetteville, NC and on Saturday, June 23 the second ever visit to Bill Sawyer's Virginia Motor Speedway in Saluda, VA will take place with the cameras of SPEED Channel on hand to tape the event which will be shown on a date and time to be announced in the future.

With 12 different winners in the first 16 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series the most competitive national touring series in Dirt Late Model Racing comes to Fayetteville and Virginia Motor Speedway with an extremely close point's battle going on. The 2007 Eldora "Dream" winner Steve Casebolt of Richmond, IN currently leads the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Championship Points Standings heading into this weekend. Casebolt has a narrow 40 point lead over 2-time series winner this year, Scott James of Lawrenceburg, IN. The two-time and defending Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series National Champion, Earl Pearson, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL sits third in point's just 65 markers behind Casebolt. Benton, KY's Terry English and Dan Schlieper of Sullivan, WI round out the top five drivers with both pilots seeking their first series win of '07.

The rest of the top ten are Donnie Moran of Dresden, OH, Justin Rattliff of Campbellsville, KY, Don O'Neal of Martinsville, IN, Billy Drake of Bloomington, IL and a tie for tenth between Damon Eller of Crumpler, NC and Brad Neat of Dunnville, KY.

Rattliff maintains the lead in the COMP Cams "Rookie of the Year" chase that is really heating up. Rattliff is ahead of a tie between Eller and Neat. Garrett Durrett of Simsboro, LA is fourth in the rookie chase.

The tire rule for both events will be the same: Hoosier LM20, 1300, 1350, LM40, 1600 and D55 and the American Racer SD44, SD48 and MD56.

There will be complete show both nights with LifeLong Locks Time Trials along with the Hawk Brake and Quarter Master sponsored heat races. The number of heat races will be based on the number of entries. The Mason Racin' Rebel Shock Dyno and Penske Shocks B-Mains will be run followed by the $10,000 to win feature race.
