VERNON, N.Y. (June 19) – With two events finally in the record book,
the World Products Empire State Series heads to venues in New York
and Pennsylvania before making its first-ever ap pearance on Canadian
dirt.
The tour for IMCA Modifieds is at Utica-Rome Speedway in Vernon,
N.Y., for a Sunday, June 24 show. Gates open at 3 p.m. and racing
starts at 5:30 p.m.
Penn Can Speedway at Susquehanna, Pa., hosts the early holiday show
on Tuesday, July 3. Pit gates open at 3:15 p.m. and racing gets un
derway at 7:15 p.m.
Rounding out the three race swing is the Tuesday, July 10 date at
Ontario’s Brockville Speedway. Gates open at 5 p.m. and qualifying
begins at 6:30 p.m.
IMCA national, SuperFlow Eastern Region and special series points
will be given at all three events.
After a wet start to the tour, Sean Lias of Westfield, Pa., and
defending champion Dale Caswell of Central Square, N.Y., took
checkered flags in the first two series events. Caswell tops the
current standings, 10 points ahead of Jo Jo Donato of Altamont, N.Y.
and Brad Weaver of Binghamton, N.Y. Bob Banks Jr. of Hudson, N.Y., is
13 points off the pace while Lias and Pete Neff Jr. of Newfield,
N.Y., are tied for fifth, 14 points behind Caswell.
