ASCS Patriot Hard Charger Standings Intensify After Six Events

By Rich Vleck, TULSA, Okla., (June 22, 2007)- After a big two-race weekend for the ASCS Patriots, Geoff Quackenbush now has a destroyed racecar and some ground to make up in the Championship Point Standings. Despite the rough weekend, though, he is still in front in the Gater Racing News Hard Charger of the Season Award presented by Red Bear Hand Cleaner.

Quackenbush’s two flips at Stateline and Eriez kept him at 18 points in this additional series, allowing a number of names to make up ground in pursuit for the third every specialty title.

Dave Wickham went into the weekend out west with no positions advanced in A-Main competition, but he left with 15 points for moving forward in both races. The Brewerton, NY veteran charged up six spots on Saturday to pick up a top-10 and was even better on Sunday, picking up KSE Racing Prodcuts Hard Charger of the Race honors for passing nine competitors. Wickham is now just three passed cars behind Quackenbush.

Like Wickham, all of Rob Pietz’s points in these standings were obtained in the two most recent events, largely due to the fact that it was his first weekend with the ASCS Patriots this year. Before scoring a ASCS Career-best 3rd at Eriez on Sunday, the Port Colborne, Ontario sprint car sophomore was the hard charger on Saturday Night with 11 positions advanced. Even though he will not run every one of the remaining ASCS Patriot events, look for the driver of the No. 69 to stay up in these standings over the next month as he runs the balance of July’s events.

Ray Preston and Chris Muhleisen are the other two drivers with a double-digit count of cars passed so far in 2007. Both expect to be at the remainder of the 2007 season and thusly should contend for a top-three position in this always-event series.

As mentioned earlier this year, the top-three in points will receive cash awards at the year-end series banquet. Red Bear Hand Cleaner will also distribute their new-age product to any driver in the top-10 at the end of this third season. Jared Zimbardi and Don Adamczyk took top honors in 2005 and 2006, respectively.

Look for more updates on these standings in the month’s to come, with the standings posted on www.RedBearHandCleaner.com. For everything about the ASCS Patriots, visit www.ASCSracing.com or www.ASCSpatriotsprints.com.
