BRIAN SEIDEL TAKES URC BAR'S LEAKS POINT LEAD
Brian Seidel of Allentown, PA now leads the season long Bar's Leaks URC
Point Series after a successful second place finish Saturday night at
the New Egypt Speedway. Seidel, a former URC Champion, earned the
title in 2000 and for right now, he is in the drivers seat. Bill
Gallagher, owner of the 5G driven by Seidel is looking for his first
ever URC Owners Championship title this season.
But lets not get too far ahead, we are about one-third of the way
through the season and seventeen point races still remain on the URC
schedule. It goes without saying, the toughest part of the URC tour
still remains, with the Shot Drop/Rislone Nationals, stops at
Selinsgrove, Big Diamond, Middletown, Rolling Wheels and Hagerstown.
Seidel holds a slim twenty-eight point lead over defending URC Champion
Curt Michael of Ocean View, Delaware. In nine events this season,
Michael is the only repeat feature winner, scoring a pair of victories
at the Delaware International Speedway. Ed Aikin is positioned third
in points, trailing Michael by thirteen points. Suddenly in the picture
is Michael Carber of Piperville, PA. Carber scored his first career URC
win Saturday night at New Egypt and is fourth in points, trailing the
point leader by just ninety-five points. Making up the top five in
points is Justin Collett, also a feature winner this season.
Of the eight different winners in the previous nine URC events of 2007,
five drivers became first time winners and the list includes Justin
Collett, Dave Calaman, Chad Layton, Josh Weller and Carber.
The URC Sprints will be part of the Kasey Kahne Foundation invitational
sprint car event at the Williams Grove Speedway on Wednesday night, June
27 followed by a return visit to the Delaware International Speedway
for the Taylor & Messick Delaware State Sprint Series event on Saturday
night.
