ELDORA SPEEDWAY TO HOST 3 SPRINT SHOWS IN 5 NIGHTS
TUESDAY’S OLD SPICE SUMMER SIZZLER PRECEDES WEEKEND’S KINGS ROYAL by CROWN ROYAL
ROSSBURG, OH (June 25) -- With three winged Sprint Car race meets scheduled over the five night period of July 10 - July 14, Eldora Speedway will be abuzz with open-wheel activity.
Kicking the action off on Tuesday night (July 10) will be a ‘return to their roots’ of sort, as NASCAR Nextel Cup stars Tony Stewart, Kasey Kahne and Dave Blaney race head-to-head against the NRA (National Racing Alliance) Sprint Invaders. The NASCAR trio, which has an impressive record of short-track open wheel racing on their resumes, has a score to settle in this third annual event, as to date, they remain winless in this match up. NRA regulars Darren Long (2005) and Tim Allison (2006) have visited victory lane thus far.
Adding even more flare to the night, NASCAR’s Kenny Schrader and NHRA’s Ron Capps have been inked to compete against the UMP (United Midwestern Promoters) Modified regulars.
Things begin to heat up Friday night (July 13) as the World of Outlaw (WoO) Sprints return to the massive one-half mile clay oval in the classic Knight Before the Kings Royal. It will be a full points program for the traveling WoO superstars with a complete card of preliminaries and a 30-lap finale. Rounding out the doubleheader that night will be the NRA Sprint Invaders in another full blown points program.
Saturday’s climax to the week is the 24th annual Kings Royal by Crown Royal, with the goal of every WoO driver that of walking to the stage and sitting upon the giant throne and subsequently being crowned, which is significant of a $50,000 victory. While using WoO car and safety specifications, the night’s program is run under Eldora’s time-honored format, which puts the emphasis on hard-core racing in every preliminary event.
Unlike the WoO contingent, which will run a full program of heats and a B-Main prior to the anticipated 40-lap Kings Royal, the NRA Sprint Invaders will be using Friday night’s line-up to determine positioning in the 2 B-Mains and 25-lap A-Main which will make up their night of competition.
As if the Eldora action wasn’t already enough to whet a Sprint Car fan’s appetite, the WoO Sprint Cars will be racing up the road at Limaland Motorsports Park on Wednesday night in the Brad Doty Classic. The St. Henry Nite Club will be providing bus transportation for persons camped at Eldora Speedway for the week, to and from Limaland.
Tickets for all three Eldora events are available online at www.eldoraspeedway.com or by calling the Speedway office during the week at (937) 338-3815.
