South Park PA’s Jared Miley grabbed his first feature win of the season in Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic Late Models. Steve Baker grabbed the early lead and was looking good, but Miley had other ideas. He caught Baker and put on a wheel-to-wheel battle for several laps and took the lead on lap seven. Baker kept him in his sights, but as the race wore on, Miley put a little space in between. Meanwhile, Dave Wade put on a charge that would see him in fifth by lap 5, fourth by lap 11, third by lap 17. He caught Baker the next lap, and battled him for second getting by on lap 19. Wade was catching Miley at the end but ran out of time. At the finish it was Miley, Wade, Baker, Mike Davis, Brandon Burgoon, Lou Bradich, Tom Beck, Brandon Wearing, Dennis Neiderriter, and George Kowatic. Dave Wade and Lynn Geisler won the heats. Geisler unfortunately blew his engine as he crossed the line and was unable to start the feature. John Flinner made his first start, but ran into mechanical problems in the heat and feature. Davey Johnson was also on hand in the Brad Malcuit’s #1J but ran into problems and dropped out.
Kyle Lukon liked winning his first career win last week in the Brougher’s Machine Shop Crate Late Models; he decided to do it again. The Burgettstown PA driver did it in big fashion starting 12th, and moved past second running Jason Rider, and leader Russ Kolesar in a super three wide move in turns 1& 2. Once in the lead Lukon never looked back to pick up the win. Rider moved into second and chased Lukon the remainder of the event, closing in a bit at the end but settled for second. Kolesar ended up third, followed by Leo Stadelman, Daryl Charlier, Josh Holtgraver, Bill Westlake, Laura Lukon (who recovered nicely from a heat race crash), Scott Schempp, and Bryant Hank (back in his own car). Steve Beatty was running in the top five in the late stages when mechanical problems set in and he dropped out. Two flips occurred during the main, with Jeff Broniszewski flipped on lap one, and Darrell Dow flipped on the front straight on lap 7.
Steve Beatty and Leo Stadelman took heats.
J. E. Stalder grabbed his second Miley Truck Rental E-Mod feature of the season. Stalder started 10th and took the lead on a restart on lap 8 from early leader Chris Basich. Stalder ran away from the field in the remaining laps. Mike Basich ended up second, followed by Kevin Miller, Chuck Kennedy, Chris Basich who faded to fifth, last week’s winner Wayne Tessean, Tom Martineck, J. J. Bametzrieder, Vince Laboon, (who caught fire and spun on lap 5), and Willy Briggs. The heats fell to Tom Martineck and J.E. Stalder.
In the Sunoco Race Fuels Pure Stocks, Joe Anthony, Baldwin PA grabbed his second feature. Anthony grabbed the lead at the start and held off last week’s winner Jake Simmons to pick up the win. It also broke Simmons two-week winning streak. The team cars of Stacie White and Adam Chytil were right behind in third and fourth followed by Bob Schwartzmiller in fifth. Rounding out the top ten finishers were A.J. Poljak, Bill Robertson, Nick Kocuba, Don Bauerle, and Dave Slade. The two heats fell to A.J. Poljak and Stacie White.
The Old Alleghany Shoppe Amateur Stocks had Eric Goldberg Pittsburgh, PA grab his first feature win of 2007. Goldberg took the lead on lap two from Jason Herniak and rolled to the win. Bill Tennant was second, followed by last week’s winner Curt Bish, Herniak, Tony White, Derek Stefanick, Brian Huchko, Rob Ward, Jarrod Weiland, and Mark Perry. Point leader Davy Lee was running second and developed a flat. Davy Lee and Eric Goldberg grabbed the two heat races.
Dormont PA’s Dusty Curry kept on his roll in the Imperial Heights Garage Young Guns feature and picked up his 6th win of 2007. Curry grabbed the lead on lap two and held the lead until the end. Michael Reft was second followed by Rich Mason, Devin Tomei, and Todd Janus, Alec Broniszewski, and newcomer Shawn Graham.
