Newberrytown, PA (June 23, 2007) – Stock Car Saturday night at the Susquehanna Speedway Park found Steve Billet, son of current SSP point leader Carl Billet, picking up his first career win in the 20-lap Late Model feature with a last lap pass of Jeremy Knoll. Paul Morgan won the Street Stock feature event over the “new father,” Wes Alleman. Sam Rial passed current point leader Michael Goodwin on a restart with two laps to go to win the Xtreme Stock Car feature event. Daryl Sipe picked up the in the York Haven Auto Sales Mini Van feature. Kendra Knaub led the most laps for the win in the Women on Wheels (W.O.W.) Stock Car Summer Championship. Ricky Hippensteel won the won XSC Rookie Rumble race.
In the 20-lap Late Model feature event, Jeremy Knoll jumped out to the early lead over Steve Billet. A caution on the second lap for a spinning John Moser, Jr. regrouped the field. On the restart, Knoll continued to lead over Billet and Sam Leonard, Jr. Meanwhile, a lot of action found side-by-side battles for position thoughout the rest of the field. The green stayed out until another caution on lap 15 found Darrel Henry spinning coming off turn four. On the ensuing restart, Billet was unable to find the fast way around Knoll. Fortunately for Billet, he had one last chance to make the pass for the lead when the caution once again flew with one lap to go in the race. The third time was the charm as Billet was able to get by Knoll going into turn one and held on to the lead to pick up his first career win. Knoll held on to a close second behind Billet with Carl Billet finishing third. Jake Jones and Scott Richwine finished fourth and fifth, respectively. Rounding out the top ten was Sam Leonard, Jr., Chuck Yingling, Charles Potts, Carl Graves and Justn Ehrhart.
In the 20-lap Street Stock feature, Dustin Hollinger jumped out to the early lead for the second week in a row and didn’t look back in the early stages of the race. As in last week’s feature event, there were many two, three and four battles all the way back to the last spot. A caution on lap four bunched up the field. Hollinger once again continued to lead after the restart, but Paul Morgan snatched it away on the eighth circuit from Hollinger. Morgan started fifth. Morgan continued to lead for the remainder of the race to pick up his second SSP win of the season. The hard charger was Wes Alleman who came all the way from eleventh to finish in the runner-up spot behind Morgan. Brian Hauenstein, Steven Dove and Scott Thunberg rounded out the top five.
In the 30-lap Xtreme Stock Car feature, John Scrivens was the leader for the first three laps. Travis Horan took the lead from Scrivens on lap 4 and continued to lead for the next 20 laps with Mike Goodwin stalking him the entire time. On the 26th lap, Goodwin finally made the pass to take the lead away from Horan. Horan did not give up and continued to challenge for the lead, however, on lap 28, Horan spun coming out of turn four. On the double file restart, each driver may choose either the inside or outside row before they take the green. Goodwin chose the high side and Sam Rial moved to the inside on the restart with 2 laps to go. When the green came out, Rial jumped into the lead and never looked back to pick up the win over Goodwin. Donnie Broderick finished third. Brent Fogelsanger and Scrivens rounded out the top five.
Kendra Knaub won the 20-lap Women on Wheels Summer Championship after battling runner-up Beth Burhman side-by-side for the lead early in the race. Karen Hawthorne finished third. Kim Flanagan and Renee Luckenbaugh rounded out the top five.
In a wild 15-lap Classic Car feature event, Brian Diehl led from start to finish from his pole position starting spot. Second place finisher Jack Yingling was penalized to the tail of the lead lap after spinning Al Daniels coming out of the fourth turn on the final lap. This put Charlie Summers as the runner-up finisher, followed by Bill Brown, Sr., Jim Crocker and Kevin Palmer.
Daryl Sipe won the 10-lap York Haven Auto Sales Mini Van feature over David Snelbaker, Brnadon Ort, Butch Richcreek and Lance Donmoyer.
