KIRKWOOD, NY…Five Mile Point Speedway will honor speedway founders Anna and Irving Heath with the 43rd running of the Heath Memorial this Saturday night. The Modifieds will do battle in a 50 lap STAR Series event that will pay $2,000 to the victor. The special night will see a full program of racing along with a visit from the Mid State Antique Stock Car Club and former racers reunion. Race time is 6 p.m.

The Heath Memorial is the most prestigious event on the yearly Five Mile Point Speedway race schedule. The race honors Irving Heath who built the speedway in 1951 and his wife Anna who helped to keep the tradition alive from 1965 to 1993. Mr. Heath passed away in 1965. In 1994 their grandson Andrew Harpell purchased the speedway prior to the passing of Mrs. Heath that winter. Over the course of 57 years many members of the Heath family have contributed greatly to the success of the facility and this race is a celebration of all their efforts. The speedway continues to thrive and this race will honor a dream that began in 1951 and continues to this day.

On the track the Modifieds will go wheel to wheel in a special 50 lap STAR Series event that pays $2,000 to the winner. The Modifieds will again be allowed to compete with sail panels in this mini series event between Five Mile Point and Penn Can Speedway. Special bonuses will be up for grabs as well for the weekly Five Mile Point Speedway Modified teams in competition.

The Mid State Antique Stock Car Club will make their return to the speedway this Saturday as well. Spectators will have a special treat as many of the stars from the past will return to the speedway for the annual Racers Reunion.

A full program of Sportsman, IMCA Modifieds, Pure Stocks, Lightning Cats and a League of Their Own will also be in competition. It will certainly make for a jam packed evening of excitement at the quarter mile.
