Dagenais, Ladouceur, Cryderman and Usereau winners at Cornwall Motor Speedway

CORNWALL, On – Sunday June 24, 2007 – It was a packed house on fan appreciation night at Cornwall Motor Speedway. More than 100 cars showed up for this regular show sponsored by Minute Auto Wash. Four new faces came up in the winner circle.
Tammy Jalbert took the lead over the 24 cars field in the 30 laps feature for the first five laps, when a red flag came out for Steve Jeffrey who rolled over in the backstretch ending the night also for Carey Terrance and Brian McDonald. Jalbert had to head to the pits with a flat tire during this caution giving the lead to Ron Valade. Valade was able to keep the lead on the restart but Lee Ladouceur made an inside move on him in turn 1 and 2 to grab the lead on lap 8. A caution came out on lap 9 for Mark Hitchcock. Ladouceur kept the first position on the restart and another caution slowed the field down with a tangle with Tammy Jalbert and Kyle Dingwall in turn 1 and 2. Dingwall had to go on the hook.
Ladouceur retain the lead on the restart but Pierre Dagenais used the outside groove on Ladouceur to take the lead and was able to keep for the remainder of the race to win his second feature race of the weekend as he won at Drummondville on Saturday night. Alain Boisvert finished second, Lee Ladouceur third, Dave Heaslip fourth and Stéphane Lafrance completed the top 5. Pierre Dagenais had a perfect night as he won the first heat race, Mario Clair and Lee Ladouceur won the other heat races. Eric Gauvreau won the modified consolation.
Steve Johnston took the lead in the 20 laps feature race but a caution came out on the first lap for Dion Oakes and Joey Ladouceur. On the restart, Ghyslain Valade grabbed the lead over Johnston and another caution came out on lap 2 for an accident right in front of the grandstand for PJ Peters and Daniel Leduc. Valade kept the lead on the insuing restart until the fourth caution of the race slowed the field on lap 10. On the next green flag, Valade was still able to keep the lead until lap 15 when Joey Ladouceur who started tenth was capable to pass Valade and lead the last five laps to win is first feature of the season at Cornwall. Gilles Godard finished second, Ghyslain Valade was third, Clayton Benedict and George Renaud rounded out the top 5. Dion Oakes, Jocelyn Roy and Gilles Godard won the qualification races.
Chris Tremblay took the lead of the initial green in the 15 laps feature but Mathieu Aubin grabbed it from him in front of the grandstand on lap 2. Derek Cryderman did the same thing to Aubin in turns 1 and 2 on lap 4. On the restart, Cryderman kept the first spot and lead the race for the next 9 laps and another caution brought the field together on lap 13. Derek Cryderman was able to keep away a hard charging Stuart Mullin to win his first feature race of his career in an exciting finish. Mullin finished second, Marc Lalonde was third, Jason Fetterly was fourth and Michel Desjardins rounding out the top 5.Marc Lalonde, Michel Desjardins and Kurtis McPhee won the heat races.
Twenty-six cars, started the 12 laps rookie feature race as Marc Usereau who started on the pole, was able to manage several cautions and lead all laps to win the finale. Usereau had a late charge from Corey Wheeler who finished second, Mark Radbourne, Mike Gaucher and Gage Morin completed the top 5. Morin, Usereau and Dominic Charlebois won the heats.
The track was really fast tonight as the modifieds ran some laps in high 13s. There was action in the four divisions. Fans were able to meet and get photos and autographs from their favourite drivers during intermission. Do not miss next weeks program, as it will be the Canada Day holiday special with the first race in the Mohawk Racing Parts Pro-Stock series. They will have a 50 laps feature race plus a complete racing program for the other classes.
